Designer line Band of Outsiders always pulls in a famous face to promote its collection. Where in the past they’ve used Amy Adams, Michelle Williams and the boys of “Harry Potter,” this time, they’ve tapped Rashida Jones and her sister Kadida, who is a stylist. This isn’t the first time the pair have modeled together: They were featured in a 1992 issue of Sassy magazine*. But this is probably the first time they’ve modeled in weird sweater turbans. *If you have old issues of Sassy you wanna get rid of, drop me a line! I will buy them all!
Amy Adams is a really wonderful actress (check her out in “The Master” — she gives Philip Seymour Hoffman an amazing handjob, trust us). But for as great as she is, she’s never really been on the high fashion radar. So we thought she was a surprising choice as Band of Outsiders newest celeb model. BoA is not above stunts — earlier this year they held the “longest runway show ever,” which was basically just a storefront window with models in rotating outfits — and in the past they’ve used both Michelle Williams and Rupert Grint as models. Here, Amy does an admirable job of presenting the Boy by Band of Outsiders collection in a naturalistic, girly way. More photos after the jump!

Thank Jeebus we get to see more of favorite ginger Ron Weasley and adorable dude Draco Malfoy! The pair of them–real names Rupert Grint and Tom Felton–were contracted by indie fashion line Band of Outsiders to model their fall collection. More images from the photo shoot after the jump, and see the whole collection on the BoO site. [Band of Outsiders] Keep reading »
We’ve long known that manufacturing costs and retail prices are all about power plays, not mathematics (we’re looking at you, luxury denim). An article in The New York Times takes a look at fashion pricing, this time from the designer’s point of view. Recently, there’s been an increase in super expensive men’s khakis, some of which are selling for upwards of $600. Keep reading »
Since we won’t get to see Jason Schwartzman in his upcoming film “Fantastic Mr. Fox” (due to it being animated and all), we’re very pleased the actor is featured in the look book for Band of Outsiders‘ fall 2009 collection. (The label’s designer, Scott Sternberg, has also used our girl crushes, including Michelle Williams and Marisa Tomei, to show off his women’s collection, Boy by Band of Outsiders.) The distinctive, dreamy look of the Polaroid images make us want to Poladroid all our photos from this summer so our lives will look equally cool. The only thing that would make this better is if Jason were holding our hand, rather than this mannequin’s. Check out two more photos from the look book after the jump.
