Quick Pic: How Many Hail Marys Will This Ad Agency Be Saying?

The British Advertising Standards Authority banned this Federici ice cream ad after readers complained about the nun’s “seductive pose.” Yeah, we don’t like thinking about what she was going to do with that spoon, either. Keep reading »

The EU Doesn’t Want Sex to Sell Anything Anymore

David Beckham may be one of the best things to have happened to the game of soccer since cleats were invented, but he’s also one of the best things to have happened to advertising since the dawn of modern media…at least in my book. I mean, have you seen his nearly nude Armani ads? [Now you have! See above! -- Editor]

Well, if the European Parliament has anything to do with it, our friends on the other side of the pond may not have the good fortune of gazing at Beckham’s chiseled abs in glossies and on the sides of buses for much longer. Earlier this month, the Parliament voted in favor of a report drafted by the Women’s Rights Committee that aims to more tightly monitor nudity in marketing campaigns and to end the use of gender stereotypes.

Loud Sex Lover Banned In The UK

A couple in Southern England has been seriously putting the WHAM! BAM! in the Thank you ma’am! According to Kelly “The Screamer” Norris’ neighbors, the 29-year-old comes louder than a freight train. Even after the other apartment residents obtained a court order in 2006 to lower the volume on her bumpin’ music, slammin’ headboard, and x-rated dirty talk, she still refused to comply when she got down. Now, we here at the Frisky can appreciate a woman who likes to be vocal, but she’s been teaching a six year old who lives in the building a whole new set of vocabulary words. And Norris has also been giving them more than just an earful, she’s also showing an unwanted eyeful by sunbathing nude in the communal backyard. Man, this chick’s got balls! So how did her neighbors finally beat her off? They cleverly decided to apply for an injunction to ban her boyfriend, Adam Hinton, 32, from visiting her apartment. In court earlier this week, the ban was granted and Norris was also fined $600 for loving too loud (but I think we can all agree that finding a man who makes you scream is priceless.) Although, maybe she should think about moving…into a sound proof place with blind neighbors. [The Daily Telegraph via Fark] Keep reading »

Eva Mendes Is Too Sexy For TV

Eva Mendes just can’t catch a break. The beauty with an ugly habit had to postpone being a spokesmodel for Calvin Klein to check into rehab earlier this year. While the fashion house stuck by her in her time of need, now the fragrance commercial she finally made can’t even get on the air because, as a CK rep says, “There’s a lot of skin.” Banned by networks in the US, the spot for Secret Obsession is too hot for TV…and even YouTube. It might not be safe for work, but at least we can watch this Calvin Klein men’s underwear fashion show instead! [Trend Hunter]

U.S. Representative Proposes Ban On Men’s Magazines At Military Bases

U.S. Representative Paul Broun (R-Ga) has introduced a bill that would ban all sexually explicit material from military bases overseas, including Playboy, Penthouse, and Maxim magazines — currently there is a ban on “porn” enforced, but there is a loophole. Critics of the bill say it would be bad for morale.

A Department of Defense committee that reviews materials sold on bases ruled last year that magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse are not pornographic. But Broun’s Military Honor and Decency Act includes language that could make those magazines eligible for the ban…. Broun, a Marine veteran, told Newsweek recently that the magazines sold in military exchanges are partly responsible for a rise in sexual assaults in the military and other problems.
