DIY THE Balmain Blazer

Everyone loves the Balmain look — dripping in studs, accentuated with grommets, and full of decoration. The price, however, makes your wallet hurt just thinking about it. But thanks to the good world of the internet and a few fancy DIY individuals, there’s absolutely no reason you can’t create your own Balmain-inspired pieces. Read on for a few tips to keep in mind while turning your plain Jane blazer into an embellished one worthy of Christophe Decarnin’s aesthetic. Keep reading »

Guess How Much This T-Shirt Costs

Seriously, guess. $10? $50? $500? WRONG. It costs — gah, I cannot believe this is for effing real and for effing sale! — $1,625. Let me repeat: one-thousand six-hundred and twenty-five dollars. No, not pesos. DOLLARS. Dear Mr. Balmain (or Ms., whatever): Screw. You. [Net-A-Porter.com via The Daily What] Keep reading »

Wait, Balmain Does Hair Extensions?

Forget everything you thought you knew about Balmain. The luxury design house, which is well known for their sexy creations by Christophe Decarnin, has officially launched into the beauty world, and now boasts hair extensions!? Already Sarah Jessica Parker, Demi Moore, Madonna, Rihanna, and Beyonce are fans of the Balmain “Doublehair” extension system. But these are hardly the cheap options you’d find in drug stores … these are designer hair extensions. They’re made of 100% human-hair, require only 35 minute to, uh, install, are reusable up to three times, and include a six month quality guarantee. Each piece will set you back $18.60-$29.85, depending on the length. Good news for those based in NYC: you can head to the Francky L’Official salon on the Upper East Side for your own designer set of hair. [Balmain via Racked] Keep reading »

Trend Spotting: Metallics Rule At Paris Fashion Week

The big takeaway from the French collections? Lots of shine. There was a stunning silver suit at Balenciaga, gold dresses and jackets at Dries Van Noten, a gorgeous shift woven with silver metallic threads by Martine Sitbon and Giles Deacon presented flashy pants and prom dresses. Sadly, it’s hard to do less-expensive metallic looks without looking, well, cheap, but expect the trend to shimmy down to the Urban Outfitters and American Apparels of the world soon. A great way to trick out this trend without looking like Ziggy Stardust? Accessorize with a metallic bag or belt. Keep reading »

What If You Had $40,000 To Spend On Designer Clothes?

I almost regret sharing this news, mostly because I just entered myself, but I love you guys and this is a serious need to know. In celebration of their one millionth order, Net-A-Porter is offering fans the chance to win a $40,000 shopping spree, no purchase necessary. Here’s the link to enter. That’s like the granddaddy of all grand prizes ever, or, as I just read in Women’s Wear, “it equals a capsule Balmain wardrobe, 160 pairs of jeans or a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes every day for two months.” Sick. [WWD]

Now let’s play a little game, shall we? Say you won. How the hell would you even begin to spend it!? I think I’d start with a buttery soft Rick Owens biker jacket, some Alexander Wang sweats, a couple Vivienne Westwood Monroe dresses and sure, I’d throw some Louboutins in the mix. Then I would spend approximately one week (or more) agonizing over the rest. You? Keep reading »
