Aziz Ansari’s “Friday Night Lights” Super Bowl Was Better Than The Real Super Bowl

I mean, just about anything was more exciting than last night’s Super Bowl, but Aziz Ansari‘s random decision to livetweet an imaginary Super Bowl between the Dillon Panthers and the East Dillon Lions — from “Friday Night Lights” — was legitimately entertaining. Some of the cast members of the show even got in on the fun. Scott Porter, who played Jason Street on “FNL,” tweeted the above photo, alongside Michael B. Jordan, who played Vince Howard. Comedian Aziz Ansari On The Ridiculousness Of Marriage

Comedian Aziz Ansari On The Ridiculousness Of Marriage
"This is really strange. Why are we doing this?"

One of the exaggerations/white lies I’ve been known to tell more than a few times is that I basically discovered comedian Aziz Ansari, aka Tom Haverford on “Parks and Recreation.” See, back in, like, 2005, I was working at Maxim magazine and one of the pages I edited was the Jokes page. Each issue we spotlighted an up-and-coming comedian and one month, I picked Aziz. I think it was the first bit of big press he got, but I might be making that up, and then after that, it was all dollah dollah bills for Aziz. Anyway, Aziz’s latest project is a Netflix standup comedy special called “Buried Alive,” in which Aziz focuses his funny on issues related to dating and marriage. Above, Aziz, in his typically LOUD FASHION, tackles the absurdity of marriage itself. “Buried Alive” will be available on Netflix on November 1. [via Feministing]

Some standup comedians — okay, probably only Russell Brand — are swimming in tail, while others aren’t sure how to find a sexual partner without sounding like you deserve a blowjob just because you’re on TV. In this preview clip for a $5 standup special available on his website, “Parks and Rec” star Aziz Ansari wants us to believe he is in the latter category. Somehow, I have a hard time believing the only people who freak out around him are bros. [YouTube]

“My perfect date night: I pick you up. In my Kia Sorrento. You get in. There’s candles in the car. You go, ‘…Is that dangerous?’ and I go, ‘Yes—but I like danger.’

We go to your favorite restaurant, and we have a fantastic meal. We come outside and we see my car’s on fire. You go, ‘Aziz, your car’s on fire. Aren’t you upset?’ I pull out a bag of marshmallows and I go, ‘No. I knew this was gonna happen.’

And then I kiss you. In front of my burning car.”

– Aziz Ansari, aka Tom Haverford on “Parks & Recreation,” describes his perfect date to People. Not even going to try and add a funny kicker to this post. [People]

10 Reasons We’re Psyched That Aziz Ansari Will Host The MTV Movie Awards!

If I weren’t such an unmotivated lazy, I would be full-on stalking Aziz Ansari. He’s one of the funniest men in comedy right now and basically everything he does makes me do this really unflattering snorting thing. So, thank goodness he’s maybe going to host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards! I have mixed feelings about the MTV Movie Awards in general, but with Aziz Ansari taking over, they’re guaranteed to be awesome and we’ve come up with 10 reasons why! Keep reading »

Amy Poehler May Star In Office Spin Off

Everybody wants Amy Poehler. And rumor has it, she’s going to give it to primetime! SNL’s Emmy-nominated, crazysexycool comedianne has been in talks to join the cast of a much buzzed about spin-off of The Office. So far, one of the funny men of Human Giant, Aziz Ansari, is slated for the show, but there’s still no word on who is going to play the Steve Carrell-style boss role. While Amy seems to be the top contender, the problem is she’s knocked up for reals, like her character in Baby Mama — except with her real husband, Will Arnett, not Tina Fey. The spin-off was set to start taping in the fall so it could air after the Superbowl, but that would also coincide with her baby bump making its debut. But we think Amy can do anything! NBC, she’s worth waiting for. Amy, go and get your show, baby! [Reuters] Keep reading »
