Meet Suzette Davis, Bentley From “The Bachelorette”‘s Ex And Baby Mama

I was nauseous as I watched Bentley Williams play out his sociopathic master plan on Ashley Hebert on the latest episode of “The Bachelorette.” I still can’t understand how — even if he was behaving like a pathetic excuse for a human being — it benefited him in any way to reveal his cruel intentions on national television. Why? Just why? Especially considering that Bentley is allegedly a strict Mormon, which means he doesn’t drink alcohol or have pre-marital sex. But it’s okay for him to intentionally deceive people? It just doesn’t add up. I’m sure the Mormon Church would not approve.

Ashley Hebert Talks About “The Bachelorette”‘s Bentley Bombshell

“I had feelings of nostalgia, excitement, hurt, betrayal and embarrassment. I could not stop watching. I was glued to the screen and even though I lived it, I quickly learned that I did not know many things that were being said when I wasn’t around. As I watched, I found myself both laughing and crying. People may speculate I was attracted to the ‘bad boy,’ or maybe they thought I wanted what I couldn’t have. The truth is that I always look for the good in people, and I saw that in [Bentley]. I only knew what he showed me, and I felt it to be real at the time. I can tell you that from the bottom of my heart, I don’t remember ever feeling this depth of hurt and embarrassment.”

Ashley Hebert, this season’s “Bachelorette,” writes a diary entry for People.com about how it felt watching last night’s episode, where she finds out that her favorite of the guys—the one she says she’s in love with—actually had no feelings for her, said nasty things behind her back, and was “playing everyone.” We hear you, Ashley. Here’s hoping you were able to move on from the episode and fine-tune your BS detector because of him. [People] Keep reading »

“Bachelorette” Villain Alert: Bentley Sounds Like A Sociopath, Chris Harrison Defends Casting Him

This season on “The Bachelorette,” there is a guy who makes Wes Hayden—the one who was so, so proud of himself for making it pretty far with Jillian Harris when he actually had a girlfriend—look like a nice guy. Bentley Williams is a divorced businessman from Salt Lake City with a daughter, and even though Ashley Hebert got a warning about him before he even stepped out of the limo, he’s the guy she’s falling for super hard. To Ashley’s face, Bentley is a doting dad. But to the camera, Bentley is downright nasty. “I can tell you right now it’s not going to work. She’s just not my type. I, to be honest with you, could almost care less,” he said. “Things could have turned out differently if the Bachelorette was Emily.” As in Emily Maynard, who Brad Womack ended up picking last season.

In the second episode of the season, things got worse. Keep reading »

Is West Lee The New Emily Maynard? And Is “The Bachelor” Cashing In On Personal Tragedies?

The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” have long been known for casting types—the workaholic, the basketcase, the party heartier. But it looks like after last season, when Emily Maynard became a fan favorite because of the resilience she showed in talking about her fiance who died in a plane crash years before the show, it appears the franchise has a new type—the tragedian. For the second season in a row, the producers have cast a contestant with something deeper than a traumatizing breakup in their past—they’ve lost spouses in tragic accidents.

This season, that contestant is West Lee, who is currently vying for the love of Ashley Hebert. Keep reading »

10 Changes “The Bachelor” Franchise Needs To Make If They Want Us To Take Them Seriously

Am I really about to get involved in the latest season of “The Bachelorette” with Ashley Hebert, a girl who in my estimation, is not really ready to settle down? I say this because at the end of last season, when she and Brad Womack were getting down to brass tacks, she hadn’t even considered the idea she may have to move to another state to be with him. Red flag that she may not be ready for marriage. The show, while highly entertaining, has lost all credibility. Trista and Ryan Stutter’s love was a fluke that producers have been fruitlessly trying to replicate since season one. I suppose Jason Mesnick and Molly Melaney are still going strong as well, but not without their fair share of scandal. Brad Womack and Emily Maynard are already over (well at least I think they are). I can’t say I’m the least bit surprised. It’s gotten to the point where you expect every “Bachelor” couple to fail. The show has become more about bikinis and less about betrothal. “The Bachelor” franchise needs to make a few changes if they want us to start taking them seriously agin. After the jump, a few suggestions. Keep reading »

“Bachelor” Creator On Why Ashley Hebert Is The Next “Bachelorette”

“I don’t know, she’s kind of cool, she’s spunky and she’s got a lot personality. It’s also the first time we had an actual professional woman as a bachelorette. She’s not a party planner, she’s a dentist! That’s a good step for us. I think it’s a cool good lesson for young ladies out there to see an accomplished woman still struggling to put the personal side of her life together. That’s something a lot of women can relate to. She will be a different kind of bachelorette!”

– Mike Fleiss, creater of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” on why Ashley Hebert was picked to be the next “Bachelorette.” Sigh. So many issues with this quote. For starters, Ashley is a dental student. Good for her, but technically she’s not yet a professional. Secondly, since when party-planning not an actual profession? I think the many successful, hard-working party planners out there — both male and female — would have a problem with that statement. [EW] Keep reading »

Ashley Hebert Gets Lucky — Chantal Is Taken! — And Becomes The Next “Bachelorette”

Last night, after the disappointing revelation that Brad and Emily are probably not going to live happily ever after, speculation instantly began on who would be the next “Bachelorette.” Would ABC go with the obvious choice, Chantal O’Brien, the gorgeous brunette who was Brad’s runner-up? That theory were quickly shot down during “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” On the show, it was announced that Ashley Hebert, the sweet dental student Brad sent home from Cape Town, would be the new “Bachelorette.” [CNN] Keep reading »
