For those of you who’ve been watching the rebooted “Melrose Place,” you no doubt get a little giddy every time Ashlee Simpson-Wentz‘s character, Violet, appears onscreen. Violet is the daughter of the now-dead Sydney Andrews who’s majorly sketchy—on the last episode she seduced Sydney’s old lovah, Dr. Michael Mancini, and then gave him a heart attack by showing up as his nanny and threatening to tell his wife about their backseat escapades. With Ashlee, it’s hard to tell if (a) she’s a really bad, spazzy actress or (b) if she’s actually a really good actress who’s nailed playing a girl who is nutso, off-balance, and incredibly awkward in social situations. I’ve been inclined to think it’s the former, but you never know. Sadly, Ashlee’s ride on the show has come to an end.

Ashlee Simpson was a guest on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” Thursday. She was there to talk all about the new “Melrose Place. While watching her give very little info about the show and hearing her very annoying chuckles, I couldn’t help but notice she seemed a little loopy. OK, so the taping could have gone a little long, but she could have also enjoyed the backstage refreshments a little too much. I don’t know. What do you think? We thought jeggings were the last frontier in the leggings craze, not to mention the downward turn in a persistent fash “moment” that simply refuses to end. That is, until, we spotted these bleggings (black leather leggings) on Ashlee SImpson in NYC today (she was guesting on Alexa Chung‘s show). Turns out, the trend we tried to turn a blind eye to awhile back has indeed caught on with celebs and their stylists alike (apparently Rachel Zoe just pronounced black leather leggings a must-have for fall—d’oh!) and judging from the crazy amount of them we’ve spotted on ShopStyle, well, bleggings are like, all official and s**t. And as silly as they are, why is that we’re kind of craving them? Maybe it’s the rock ‘n’ roll vibe they give off, or the Angelina-back-in-her-edgier-Billy-Bob-days appeal. No matter, the fact is, here’s one item where it seems ridic to splurge: I mean, it’s not like we’ll be wearing these into our old age. And due to all that leather, much like thigh-high boots, they’re stupid expensive, too. Yet, we miraculously dug up this pair of fake-but-high-quality leather Armani Exchange which are a steal at an online exclusive price of $48. Must be kismet.

We still don’t know where Michael Jackson‘s permanent resting place is going to be, but for now he’s chillin’ in a crypt that belongs to Motown founder Berry Gordy. Gordy discovered the Jackson Five, and now they’re discovering each other’s remains. MJ is in good company—near the likes of Bette Davis and Sandra Dee. As if news of a rebooted “Melrose Place” weren’t bad enough, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Ashlee Simpson has been cast in this epic s**tshow. According to The Aus, Simpson is slated to play country bumpkin Violet, “a character whose disarming naiveté masks the calculating, shrewd sex kitten within.” In plain talk, she’s gonna be Sydney 2.0. It takes some doing to be outraged by this apparent threat to the integrity of a show that regularly featured poolside cat fights and characters with lobotomies, but surely MP’s legacy deserves more than this. Thoughts?

Everyone’s favorite wife banger, Pete Wentz, and his lovely spouse, Ashlee Simpson, are going to be on an upcoming episode of “The Dog Whisperer.” It’s clear from the preview above, taped before Bronx Mowgli’s arrival, that Ashlee is way worried that their bulldog Hemingway is going to hump her new baby to death. Will Cesar Millan’s techniques (which consist of making sounds like “psst!”, poking pups in the ribs, and teaching them to run on a treadmill) work so that the Simpson-Wentz family doesn’t have to send Hemingway away? Let’s hope! If not, I will take the little bugger. He’s cute.
