High fashion often meets unrelated subjects — cats, for instance — so it technically shouldn’t come as a surprise that designer and illustrator John Woo has created a series of drawings that merges, of all things, characters from Star Wars with some of fashion’s finest. I’m not what you would call a fan of the saga, so I may not be able to fully appreciate the nuances of the series, but I’m still pretty damn entertained (not to mention impressed) by the artist’s depictions. Hello, Jar Jar Binks sporting Margiela streetwear swag? Darth Vader in a Band of Outsiders suit jacket and cuffed khakis? What’s not to love? [The Gloss]

“The Bachelor” Sketchbook Is A Brilliant Work Of Art

Bachelor Manipulation
This season, Courtney taught us how to manipulate a man. Read More »

Artist Lisa Hanawalt did us a solid with her set of sketches and quirky observations about this season of “The Bachelor.” Unlike me, she turned her deep shame about watching the show into art. And the result is far more entertaining than the show could ever have aspired to be. Ugh. Ben was such a turd. But, turns out, his hair is inspiring. Click through to see a few of my favorite pages from Lisa’s “Bachelor” sketchbook. All words and images by Lisa Hanawalt. I may even buy myself a print. She’s selling them on her website! Pantone Tarts?! Color Me Hungry!

How gorgeous and clever are these fresh tarts based on the Pantone color system? I love the intersection of baking and graphic design, even though it’s giving me a temporary case of synesthesia. My favorite flavor is blue, and my favorite color is banana! Wait, what? [Griottes]

This Carved Book Art Will Blow Your Mind

Artist Brian Dettmer uses surgical tools to carve up old encyclopedias, dictionaries, and medical journals. No materials are added and nothing inside the books are relocated, he simply carves the existing paper, one page at a time. When he’s finished, the vintage text and illustrations become intricate 3D dioramas with stunning detail and unexpected themes. This kind of stuff always gives me a headache, but in a good way, you know? Click through to see a few more examples of his work! [Karan Arora]

Shakespeare In Spray Paint And Other Literary Graffiti

Who knew the combination of spray paint and prominent literary figures would be so delightful? Flavorwire tracked down the best examples of literary street art, including a Robert Frost quote on a London street and a Sylvia Plath portrait in Portland. More of our favorites, after the jump… [Flavorwire]

Stars Fête Prada’s 24-Hour Museum

As I’m sure you’re well aware, Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is in full swing, and so is all the festivity that comes along with it. Last night, the biggest (and most notoriously fun-loving) fashion superstars this side of the Rive Gauche celebrated the launch of Prada’s 24 hour museum. A collaboration between Prada and the Italian visual artist and satirist Francesco Vezzoli, the pop-up extravaganza is open for today only. Talk about a whirlwind! The evening began with a private dinner, and the afterparty featured a DJ set by attendee Kate Moss (all decked out in silver furs, natch). With a roster that boasted Salma Hayek, Catherine Deneuve, Marianne Faithfull, Anna Wintour, and Emmanuelle Alt among guests, this was the party to be at last night. To have a look at the museum exhibit before it’s gone, and the photo gallery from the event, check out 24 Hours Museum.

I have a sister, who shall remain nameless despite the public humiliation she deserves, who not only wears Crocs but actually wears Crocs with socks. Crocs with socks! I am related to this person!

The only “crocs” you’ll ever see on my feet are these gator-themed high heels by the Dutch artist Sit. These can at least be forgiven for not being fashionable by being awesome.  [The Daily What]
