We could debate the choice of Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the new Catholic Pope, but that’s not half as exciting as the startling realization that Pope Francis I looks exactly like George Bluth Sr. (aka Jeffrey Tambor) from “Arrested Development.” I mean, right?
Kristin Wiig is hands down one of the funniest women ever. And “Arrested Development” was one of the most hilarious (if underrated) television shows out there. So the idea of those two things somehow combining has me very excited.
Wiig signed up to appear on the Netflix-only season of the resurrected show a couple of months ago, but we weren’t sure what character she’d be playing. Until now… Keep reading »
I’m not even sure “cult hit” is the right way to describe “Arrested Development,” but that is neither here nor there. Obsessed fans, of which there are many, will be delighted to know there’s going to be “Arrested Development” documentary and the trailer is finally out. It looks to be as much about the characters on the show as it is about the fans. This will be unique, as fan docs go: it was filed after the show got canceled, but before the forthcoming “revival season” of the show airs on Netflix. It’s a self-funded project and you can keep track of how it’s going on their website. Insert-an-”Arrested Development”-joke here, nerds. [YouTube via BuzzFeed]
The Bluths are back, baby, and they look better (and more ridiculous) than ever, decked out in royal finery in a photo for Entertainment Weekly‘s reunion issue. Look at Buster’s hook down there in the corner! And Tobias’ vacant, beaming smile! The new season of “Arrested Development” (it still feels surreal to type that) will hit Netflix next spring, and I. Can. Not. Wait. [Entertainment Weekly]
“I will admit that the day a bigger group of the cast did get together really was amazing. We were in an old set and hearing some of those voices together. I think everyone involved was kind of dumbstruck by it. It really wasn’t supposed to happen in a way; shows don’t ‘come back.’ And this was the moment we realized it had.”
–Mitch Hurwitz, mastermind behind the Greatest Show In History, “Arrested Development,” describes the feeling on the set as the cast reunited to film 10 new episodes that will air exclusively on Netflix. While Hurwitz carefully sidesteps any spoilers (“We have this new JarJar Bluth character so there’s no way anyone will be disappointed”), there are a ton of other fascinating gems in his interview with Vulture, including details about Gob’s Segway and the beyond-exciting revelation that the the show might be coming back for more than 10 episodes. Be still, my Bluth-loving heart! [Vulture]
To celebrate Mother’s Day, we thought it would be fun to put together some style inspiration boards that pay homage to our favorite fashionable moms from pop culture. And who better to kick things off than the winking, manipulating, martini-swilling, Motherboy-winning matriarch Lucille Bluth? Check out how to get her WASP-y style for yourself, after the jump … Keep reading »
I predict more “Arrested Development” humor in your future. Especially if you receive a reading with this prophetic Tarot deck. See what fate has in store for you according to the Bluths. Just keep your fingers crossed that you don’t pull the death card. We all know how that worked out for Buster. [Buzzfeed]
The final countdown to the “Arrested Development” film (and television season) is here! After five years sans Bluth, it’s good to know that my time spent practicing the chicken dance and asking strangers to “babysit me” wasn’t all for naught. We only have to wait one more year before the filming begins. In the meantime, we can sink our teeth into an array of “Arrested Development” inspired ephemera like these imagined movie posters. I especially like the use of Gob in shadow. Very mysterious. If I had any artistic ability whatsoever, I would make one myself. I think it would be a mashup of Lucille Austero and Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo.” [Buzzfeed]
We were so thrilled to hear about the return of Arrested Development (a new season and a movie? Is this real life?) that we decided an AD-themed style inspiration board was in order. Our vote for Most Stylish Bluth would be the ever-ignored teenage movie executive Maeby, who rebels against her fashion plate mother by dressing in layers of clashing prints, stripes, and plaids–and happens to look great doing it. Click through to get Maeby’s signature look for yourself…

We’ve seen a couch eater, a toilet paper muncher, a kitchen cleanser licker, and a scab sucker so far on this season of “My Strange Addiction.” But TLC is going bigger and better next season. Tobias Funke from “Arrested Development” can’t be the only person in the world who refuses to get completely nude, right? “My Strange Addiction” has put out a casting call on Craig’s List to find a Never Nude who wants to tell their story.
