Well, how adorable is this? In NYC promoting the May 26 return of “Arrested Development” — GAHHH — Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, aka Michael and Gob Bluth, grabbed some much deserved bonding time. Awww guys, we missed you so much! Check out another photo of Bluth brotherly love after the jump! Keep reading »
Today in Things That Are Perfect: this “Arrested Development”/”Great Gatsby” mashup. With “Gatsby” out tomorrow (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and the new “AD” season set to hit Netflix on the 26th (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), the timing couldn’t be more appropriate. Like Kanye Wes Anderson before it, Bluths in the Jazz Age just fit. Some of our favorites, after the jump… [BookRiot] Keep reading »
Hot damn, Ellen and Portia are a beautiful couple, aren’t they? My favorite thing about them is that every time they’re together, they both just light up–they wear their adoration for each other on their sleeve and I really admire that. OK, enough fangirl-ing about their relationship, let’s talk about their outfits! For the “Arrested Development” premiere red carpet (side note: OH MY GOD I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING), Ellen chose a sleek gray suit while Portia vamped it up in a tight black dress and a funky pompadour. They both look stylish, happy, and confident, which is the very essence of “Well Played.” [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
“There comes some pressure in your mid-30s, and you think, Am I going to have kids so I don’t miss out on something that other people really seem to love? Or is it that I really genuinely want to do this with my whole heart? I didn’t feel that my response was ‘yes’ to the latter. You have to really want to have kids, and neither of us did. So it’s just going to be me and Ellen and no babies — but we’re the best of friends and married life is blissful, it really is. I’ve never been happier than I am right now.”
–Portia de Rossi talks to Out Magazine about her decision not to become a mother. I like the distinction between not wanting to miss out and actually wanting to become a parent. I think it’s a smart one. I should probably start asking myself the same questions. Nah. I’ll put it off a while longer and think instead about the new season of “Arrested Development.” May 26th, baby. [DListed]
Che-chaw! Che-chaw! The fourth season of “Arrested Development” is almost upon us. And to commemorate how great the show’s first three seasons are, Josh Cox of Colossus of Clout Design created a bunch of faux-vintage record covers inspired by these faux “Homeland” LPs. Cox’s designs feature some of the show’s best plotlines and catchphrases. Because there’s “always money in the banana stand” but you’ve definitely got to watch your loose seals. At 4:41 this morning, Netflix sent out a tweet that stunned the world:
“We’ve made a huge mistake! There are actually 15 new episodes of Arrested Development on May 26.”
Are you freaking out right now? You should be freaking out right now. Because not only do we now have a release date for the new season, we also are apparently getting 5 bonus episodes (previous statements indicated there would only be 10 new episodes). All 15 episodes will drop at once, so make sure to load up on snacks beforehand and prepare yourself for an epic Memorial Day weekend Netflix binge. [Gawker]
We could debate the choice of Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the new Catholic Pope, but that’s not half as exciting as the startling realization that Pope Francis I looks exactly like George Bluth Sr. (aka Jeffrey Tambor) from “Arrested Development.” I mean, right?
Kristin Wiig is hands down one of the funniest women ever. And “Arrested Development” was one of the most hilarious (if underrated) television shows out there. So the idea of those two things somehow combining has me very excited.
Wiig signed up to appear on the Netflix-only season of the resurrected show a couple of months ago, but we weren’t sure what character she’d be playing. Until now… Keep reading »
I’m not even sure “cult hit” is the right way to describe “Arrested Development,” but that is neither here nor there. Obsessed fans, of which there are many, will be delighted to know there’s going to be “Arrested Development” documentary and the trailer is finally out. It looks to be as much about the characters on the show as it is about the fans. This will be unique, as fan docs go: it was filed after the show got canceled, but before the forthcoming “revival season” of the show airs on Netflix. It’s a self-funded project and you can keep track of how it’s going on their website. Insert-an-”Arrested Development”-joke here, nerds. [YouTube via BuzzFeed]
