Today, Anne Hathaway is gracing the silver screen as the sexy and cunning thief Catwoman alongside Christian Bale‘s Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Seeing Anne don the iconic catsuit got us reminiscing about her other films and the variety of characters she’s portrayed. In honor of the alluring actress and her blockbuster role, check out a few of our favorite Anne Hathaway characters and the lessons she’s taught us through her films. Read more…

“I saw ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ last night, and among other things, Catwoman is a feminist superhero with a story line and transformation of her own — plus class consciousness, a girl buddy, equal skills with the Batman equipment, and an apartment of her own in Old Town.  And she gets the guy.”

– It’s the movie endorsement you’ve all been waiting for: iconic feminist Gloria Steinem gives a thumbs-up to “The Dark Knight Rises.” Okay, I am pretty sure you were not waiting for that endorsement. [It's worth noting that Steinem's husband was David Bale, who died in 2003, and she is therefore Christian's step-mom, which may make her a tiny bit biased. That said, the movie looks gooood. -- Editor] But I am happy to hear she thinks Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman is a great role. The words “feminist superhero” are ones we can always use to more of in the mainstream! [Women & Hollywood]

Anne Hathaway — she’s honestly never been my fave. But here, at the Stella McCartney Spring 2012 presentation dinner held last night in New York, she looked the epitome of casual chic. I’d never think to pair a cream suit with a white shirt, but somehow it works here. What do you think?

Well, she shaved her head and lost a ton of weight to play Fantine in the latest movie version of “Les Misérables,” but from the looks of this early trailer (the movie isn’t due out until Christmas), it was worth it. Anne Hathaway sings a pretty damn good rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” as Victor Hugo’s ill-fated prostitute (who sells her hair and her teeth to take care of her own sickly child); hopefully the film is as solid because the last one — starring Uma Thurman, Claire Danes, and Liam Neeson — was terrrrrrible.

Anne Hathaway Goes Super Short, Plus 17 Other Gorgeous Women Who’ve Recently Rocked The Pixie Cut

This weekend, I received a single-sentence introductory message from a guy on OKCupid. “Have you ever considered cutting your hair short?” he asked, not signing his name or telling me anything about himself or really anything else that made me inclined to respond. Is he negging me? I thought. Is he saying I look bad with longer hair? I was being paranoid, of course, but the truth is, going super short terrifies me because I’m afraid I would look, well, terrible.

Then I came home and saw this photo of Anne Hathaway, who just chopped off all her hair, like, super short, for her role is “Les Miserables,” in which she plays a struggling factory worker who is forced into prostitution and winds up selling her hair to make ends meet. (She also is supposedly on a horrific-sounding 500-calorie-per-day diet, in order to lose 15 lbs. for the role.) First of all, I totally commend Anne Hathaway for her dedication to her craft. But doesn’t she look so … uncomfortable in this photo? Like she’s not happy with her new look. Dammit, Anne — I’m pretending Anne is reading this — you look awesome! You have balls I don’t have! Wear that super short pixie cut with pride! And if you need inspiration, may I direct you to the long list of gorgeous and talented actresses who have also gone super-short in the last few years? Keep clicking to see these fab ladies who’ve lopped off their locks — and then hold your head high!
