Tuesday night, we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at LOFT’s fall collection. Expect lots of bright colors and cozy sweaters, for sure. But our favorite part? The jewelry. LOFT’s always got the lockdown on great baubles, and this collection is no exception. Featuring tons of feathers and art deco details, the jewelry has a definite Great Gatsby vibe. And the best part? It all costs less than $70. Look for it in stores this fall.

I have been seriously lusting after this outfit ever since I first glimpsed it on Katie Holmes a few weeks. And I was super psyched to find out that her rusty orange skirt is going to be available at Ann Taylor in the not so distant future except … I want it nowwwww! (That’s my Veruca Salt impression, how did I do?) Luckily, I am a productive whiner, so I channeled my energy into finding similar pieces that make up her look. Check ‘em out, after the jump! Ann Taylor knows what sells clothes: thin. Yesterday afternoon, Jezebel noticed that an item on AnnTaylor.com was originally depicted by a skinny model in a tank top, but three seconds later, the page re-boots and the skinny model has magically dropped 20 lbs. around her midsection. Some might say the image was airbrushed beyond looking like a proportional human being. But what a bunch of whiners! Seriously, how could that fat cow sell a Chiffon Trim Tank looking that huge? Next you’re going to tell me something crazy like we should have models who are actually the size of the average American woman. [Jezebel.com and AnnTaylor.com] Keep reading »
Half the reason I ordered Ann Taylor‘s “Perfect Flats” was a spiteful attempt to find a way in which they are not, in fact, “Perfect.” But I needed new black flats and didn’t want to spend $500 to replace my Lanvin regulars as they became increasingly less wearable, though I assumed the $98 Ann Taylor substitutes would be nothing but a short-lived band-aid on the problem. As it turns out, I was wrong. Not only do they look good — far better, in fact, than their picture — the leather is soft, the sole padded and the toe cleavage perfectly balanced. If this is what Ann Taylor’s new designer and sleeker approach is going to look like all the time, consider us interested. [$98, Ann Taylor] Keep reading »
Gotta say, Ann Taylor has really been stepping up its style game lately! I happened upon the brand’s spring 2010 jewelry line and immediately fell in love. Witness the above necklace, $128. (A tiny bit steep, but if you head on over to the site, you can get an extra 25 percent off all the sale pieces.) And here’s my thing: J.Crew has some pretty jewelry, but you see it all over the place—this stuff feels a lot like theirs, but you won’t be one of a million people wearing it. See a few more pieces, after the jump! Keep reading »
