Poor Ann Curry. She was not only publicly fired from her cohost position on “The Today Show,” but she then had to sit there and weep about it to Matt Lauer – who probably couldn’t wait to see her go. But apparently that was far from the first time the show had humiliated her. Behind the scenes, Ann was reportedly dealing with a “boys’ club” that relentlessly bullied her, made fun of her, and conspired to get her fired in something her haters called “Operation Bambi.” If you’ve ever been bullied at work by your coworkers or superiors, you’ll totally empathize with what Ann went through.
Ann had spent decades working her way up the newsroom ladder, but when she finally reached the pinnacle, hosting alongside Lauer, ratings began to slip. Reportedly producers, especially Executive Producer Jim Bell, thought that Ann didn’t have “chemistry” with Matt. But Ann was also reportedly hassled in many other excruciating ways, according to author Brian Stelter in his book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV. Read more on The Stir…
If you thought things seemed a little, well, cold between Matt Lauer and Ann Curry on her final Today show appearance, there’s good reason for that, a source tells Us Weekly: “Matt Lauer is 100% behind Ann leaving,” the insider claims. There’s not much in the way of explanation given beyond that, though the source noted that during Curry’s last few days, the pair “were really icy to each other, and she refused to speak to him all week.” Read more …
Not for nothing, but I think Ann Curry is getting the ass end of the donkey here. Sure, her celebrity interview style was a bit uncomfortable to watch, but she’s also an incredibly accomplished journalist with a lifetime’s worth of amazing international news coverage under her belt. This woman is one of our shining stars, if you ask me. But she was put in a job where she was basically set up to fail. And I mean, what has Matt Lauer done for me lately? Ann, I love you, and I’m proud of you, and you didn’t need to be stuck on that stupid couch to do good work. Here’s hoping this frees her up to do more great, hard-hitting reporting from here and abroad.
In this clip from “The Today Show,” Ann Curry discusses favorite books with Bill Clinton and Mindy Kaling, which is, yes, kind of a strange pair. You can tell Mindy is a little freaked out by the set up, and Ann is kind of a stone cold beyotch to Mindy, dissing her while she flirts mercilessly with Bill Clinton. Also, Bill Clinton totally picks all these brown nose-y smart dude books while Mindy picks the fun books you’d actually want to read. Still, it’s really cute when Mindy tells Ann that she wishes she’d been able to get a peek at Bill’s list before she gave her own.
“… the first black — but actually multiracial — president. I mean, to be honest with you, he’s a multiracial president.”

I can’t help it. I loathe Ann Curry. I know she’s supposed to be the cute, cuddly – but still serious! – one on “The Today Show,” but homegirl makes me want to punch something. For starters, she’s a gusher. She fawns over her celebrity interview subjects like she’s on the verge of orgasming from inhaling their talented, sexy, beautiful scent. She glows and raves about their various accomplishments – “So philanthropic!” “You’ve done so much for starving children!” “Your 30 second cameo in this film is cinematic genius!” — and never asks tough questions. She giggles like a school girl who’s seen a boy’s pee-pee for the first time. Oh, and that laugh. That laugh makes me stabby. Keep reading »
