Sad Face: Andrew Koenig Committed Suicide

The search for actor Andrew Koenig, who you more likely remember as Boner Stabone on “Growing Pains,” is over. Yesterday, a team of his friends and family did a thorough sweep of Stanley Park in Vancouver, where Andrew loved to hang out. And they found something mounted officers who’d searched the park didn’t—Andrew’s body in a patch of trees. Andrew’s father, who played Mr. Chekhov on “Star Trek,” confirmed that he committed suicide. “My son took his own life,” he said in a news conference. “If you can’t handle it anymore, you know, if you could learn anything from this, is that there are people out there who really care.” Our thoughts are with the Koenigs today. Have You Seen Boner Stabone?

If you are a good child of the ’80s, you’ll remember Boner Stabone as the bad news next-door neighbor of the Seavers on “Growing Pains.” (Seriously, how did they get away with calling him that?) On a somber note, Andrew Koenig, the actor who played Boner, disappeared in Vancouver, Canada, on Valentine’s Day. His parents and other celebrities are taking to Twitter to find him. They are concerned that Andrew’s life may be in danger due to his severe depression. He was last seen at burlesque star Jenny Magenta’s house on V-Day. He was supposed to return to his home in Hollywood on February 16, but his cell phone has been turned off and no one knows his whereabouts.
