Over the holidays, I finally saw “American Hustle,” starring Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Lawrence. Depending on who you ask, the movie is either THE BEST OF THE YEAR or a complete disaster. Or, if you were to ask me, I would tell you that the movie is okay, but worth seeing for three reasons: 1) the first scene, in which Christian Bale styles his awesomely atrocious combover for, like, three minutes; 2) Jennifer Lawrence’s fairly ridiculous half-Jersey/half-California accent; and 3) Amy Adams’ fucking gorgeous makeup game. Regarding the latter: can we bring dewy makeup back please? It’s so youthful and fresh and who doesn’t want that just got fucked flush? Keep reading »
Amy Adams was spotted wearing this ensemble leaving the Dorchester Hotel in Manhattan on Friday. (Am I the only one who prefers to think that the proper way to pronounce “Dorchester” is “Dorchestah”? Yes? Okay.) I love the way leaving a few buttons undone ratchets up the hotness of this look by a factor of a zillion. But while Adams’ outfit looks relatively simple it’s also pretty expensive. Like, we know for a fact that she’s wearing $450 Alexander McQueen flats. Who has that kind of money to spend on grey ballet flats? (Amy Adams.) Here’s how to get the look for a lot less. The 85th Academy Awards are this Sunday, and some of our favorite actresses have been nominated to take home the gold. We couldn’t be more proud of their career achievements… but we also want to know, what are they going to wear? Or more accurately, we want them to know what we think they should wear. Got that? We can’t count on Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts, Amy Adams, and Anne Hathaway heeding our attempts at styling, but there’s no harm in trying. If I were dressing these five Oscar nominees, here’s what I would put them in…
The esteemed celebrity talk show “Between Two Ferns,” hosted by my boyfriend Zach Galifianakis, has at long last returned from an agonizing nine-month hiatus (did Zach have a baby or something?). Better yet, it’s back with a special Oscars edition, featuring interviews with Academy Award nominees Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts, Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway, and Amy Adams. Hathaway’s performance is groan-worthy, to say the very least, but if you’ve ever wanted to hear The Impossible Naomi Watts talk about diarrhea, now’s your chance! Also, I don’t know if it’s the pneumonia or what, but Jennifer Lawrence has, like, the sexiest voice of all time. I would like to borrow her vocal cords. Weird! Anyway, get ready to shudder with secondhand awkwardness! [Gawker]
The Oscar noms are in, and now we’re left to twiddle our thumbs and wait to find out who won all the awards. In the meantime, we figured we could at least take a look at how the lady nominees stack up in the style department.
Feel free to take guesses on what they’ll be wearing, and who’ll come out on top, in the comments!
I have an unreasonably difficult time separating gorgeous ginger Amy Adams from her Disney princess character in “Enchanted.” This is exactly what I imagine a princess would wear should she leave the castle to attend a small awards ceremony, because duh, princesses always wear floor-length Oscar de la Renta, even to fairly casual events.
Amy Adams is a really wonderful actress (check her out in “The Master” — she gives Philip Seymour Hoffman an amazing handjob, trust us). But for as great as she is, she’s never really been on the high fashion radar. So we thought she was a surprising choice as Band of Outsiders newest celeb model. BoA is not above stunts — earlier this year they held the “longest runway show ever,” which was basically just a storefront window with models in rotating outfits — and in the past they’ve used both Michelle Williams and Rupert Grint as models. Here, Amy does an admirable job of presenting the Boy by Band of Outsiders collection in a naturalistic, girly way. More photos after the jump!

Amy Adams tends to be pretty hit-or-miss on the red carpet — or, in this case, Astroturf — but she nailed it last night at the LA premiere of baseball flick “Trouble With The Curve.” I’m not usually a fan of one-shouldered dresses (they just make me wonder, why?), but the rich, autumnal color and flattering drape of this Roksanda Ilincic gown is just perfect. With low-key accessories, natural makeup, and, oh, only the most gorgeous ginger mane on the planet, Amy looked stunning, and I’m hoping this is a sign that the actress is back on her red carpet grind — I would love to see her in more fresh, simple looks like this one.
Confession time: I deal with a lot of closet ginger envy. Aren’t we supposed to make fun of them or something? (Kidddddding.) Whatever it is, I definitely didn’t get the memo, because I would trade in my dark hair and ghostly pallor for a splash of freckles and an auburn mane any day of the week — see: Amy Adams, who is basically a walking Renoir, and her glossy copper-red hue isn’t even natural. Speaking of copper, check out the gorgeous bronze shadow lining her lower lashes. It gives definition without the heaviness of a darker matte shade, which can really drag down the lower eye, and the warm metallic tones really make blue and green eyes pop. It looks like she also has a bit of a shimmery champagne color in the inner corner around her tear duct as a lighter complement to the rustier color.
I love this look, and it’s surprisingly easy to achieve as well. Apply the shadow sparingly to the lower rim with a small tapered liner brush (or better yet, try a shadow pencil like Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow in 22E), sweep the same shade over the lid and up into the brow bone, then tap just a touch of gold highlight to the inner eye (Benefit’s cult fave Moon Beam is a better-than-safe bet for any complexion) to glow like Amy. And for the love of god, if you have the coloring to pull off ginger hair, do it. Redheads are so hot.
“Being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body — meaning that it wasn’t put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit. I was like, ‘Look, I can carry a baby! I’m gaining weight right, everything is going well.’ And I’ve had that relationship ever since.”
– Amy Adams, Golden Globe-nominee for her role in “The Fighter,” is not tussling with the scale after giving birth to baby Aviana a few months ago. With every magazine ever touting “celebs who lost the baby weight in five minutes!” I find her perspective to be so refreshing. [People] Keep reading »
