Last night, the second “America’s Next Top Model” all-star got kicked to the curb all over again. And overall, I am happy to report that this season feels like it’s picking up steam, with stakes high enough for me to keep on watching. After the jump, the good, the bad, and the WTF moments from last night’s episode. Though the absolute best moment is right here, for your viewing pleasure. Keep reading »

Why, oh why, is “America’s Next Top Model” so compelling? Is it because the modeling industry is really so glorious that we’re thrilled by the idea of a normal girl getting a shot at it? Or is it that we just like to see pretty girls pushed to their breaking point via having their head shaved, being harnessed high in the air, or having to walk the runway with a roach? I’m not exacted sure, but since there have been 16 cycles of the show, with about 12 episodes a piece, I have invested roughly 192 hours into this conceit over the years. And that doesn’t count reruns, which I won’t lie, happens anytime a marathons is on. All this is to say, you better believe I will be glued to my seat for cycle 17, the “All-Stars” season. The show premiered last night and it was as good as I’d hoped. After the jump, the good, the bad, and the WTF moments of the episode. Keep reading »
The new season of “America’s Next Top Model” premieres tonight, and while the returning “All-Stars” may consider themselves experts by now, it’s been a while since most of them lived in the infamous “Top Model” house. Coming fresh off last season, I feel it’s my duty to remind them of a few important do’s and don’ts while living in a house full of models. Of course, these pointers come from personal experience in Cycle 16, but let’s face it, with a few minor tweaks, most of these issues apply to any of the seasons. Then again, maybe they should ignore my advice altogether. A bunch of competing model hopefuls in one house makes for great television … especially when they are misbehaving! Click through to see my tips for survival in the “Top Model” house.
What is Tyra Banks‘ worst nightmare? Being haunted by the girls who didn’t quite win “America’s Next Top Model” and want another chance. In this awesome promo for “ANTM: All-Stars,” Tyra shows off her acting skills (read: embarrasses herself) by channeling Camille, Laura, Isis, and blood-obsessed Allison. Honestly, I think the decision to do an “All-Star” season is kind of inspired. Just as I was getting a little bored with the show and was questioning whether I should attach myself to new group fresh-faced hopefuls, they bring back the girls I already care about. Genius. Yep, I will be watching the premiere Wednesday night. [ONTD]
It’s hard to believe that “America’s Next Top Model” has been around for 16 cycles. If there were 13 girls a season (and I’m pretty sure that many seasons had 14) that makes 208 wannabe models on the show whose names we learned, faces we dissected, and breakdowns we reveled in. So it’s fitting that the next season will be “America’s Next Top Model All-Stars.” In other words, there will be no new perfectly symmetrical faces. The cast will be comprised of the girls you loved and the ones you loved to hate in seasons past, each hoping to win the title and its prizes the second time around.
Slowly, we’re starting to get information on who is joining cast. Unfortunately some of are favorites are not on the list. Jade tweeted, “I declined #ANTM cycle 17 immensely because my contract was completely Bogus and one sided! These girl’s just signed there Rights and Life away!” But we’re still overall pleased. After the jump, the rumored new cast.

Embarrassingly, the announcement of an “America’s Next Top Model” all-star season is the thing I am most excited about today. I will confess that I have seen every single episode of all 16 cycles (as has Amelia … sorry for outing you). It’s awful, I know. But it is like reality crack to me. The CW has confirmed that Cycle 17 will bring back models from previous seasons to compete again. Jumping up and down. Screaming. Clapping. Why hasn’t Tyra thought of this sooner? Here is my dream team of returning model hopefuls: Elyse Sewell (Cycle 1), Shandi Sullivan (Cycle 2), Toccara Jones (Cycle 3), Tiffany Richardson (Cycle 4 — the girl that Tyra went postal on), Lisa D’Amato (Cycle 5 — the drunk), Kim Stolz (Cycle 5), Jade Cole (Cycle 6), Isis King (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Sundai Love (Cycle 13 — just because her name is amazing). Which “ANTM” contestants would you like to see compete again? Share your favorites in the comments. [NY Mag] Keep reading »
How can you tell when George Costanza is entering a room? From the little bit of light shining off his bald spot. So we were kind of shocked when, last week, actor Jason Alexander showed up to an event … with a full head of hair. The thing is, we know Jason in his natural state. And so can assume he must have done Hair Club For Men or some such thing. And still, he just doesn’t look right with hair.
No wonder all the model hopefuls cry when they get eliminated from “America’s Next Top Model” — a troublesome fate awaits them. Allison Harvard, Cycle 12′s runner-up, looks like she’s been busy since her season aired. She started a cult in her living room and now she’s looking for disciples. Anyone interested? I like to imagine Adrianne Curry going to a psychic in 2002, the year before she auditioned for “America’s Next Top Model.” I can almost see this psychic peering into her crystal ball and telling Adrianne, who was 20 years old and addicted to heroin at the time, “You are going to win a major reality show, get a contract with Wilhemina Models, and marry a member of ‘The Brady Bunch.’” Adrianne would have no doubt looked her square in the eyes and said, “Are you sure I’m the one on drugs?”
It’s been eight years since Adrianne won “ANTM” and six since she appeared on “The Surreal Life.” On April 9th and 10th, she will be one of the guests of honor at the Reality Rocks Expo, a two-day conference celebrating the phenomenon of reality TV and culminating in a Reality Rocks Fan Awards. To get ready, Adrianne sat down with The Frisky to talk about our fascination with modeling shows, falling in love with Christopher Knight, and how she convinced him to have a goth wedding.
