Tyra Banks shocked everyone when she fired Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and Jay Alexander from”America’s Next Top Model” — but now, she’s picked her replacements.

Congratulations are in order for “America’s Next Top Model: All Stars” contestant Angelea Preston!
“I’m very excited about things that have been happening in my life recently, like with my marriage and my baby and my career,” Preston, 25, tells Us Weekly about her baby boy on-the-way. “I feel very blessed.”
While enjoying some time at home in Buffalo, New York “around Christmastime,” Preston discovered she was pregnant with boyfriend Eric Brown’s baby. “Eric and I have dated for about two years,” she says. “Eric was the only person that I did tell right away. . . but everyone else I kept in the dark for a while about it.”
After moving to Los Angeles to pursue modeling, Brown called her up to propose marriage. Read more …
Apparently the contestants on ”America’s Next Top Model” aren’t the only ones in need of a makeover. The world was shocked last week when Tyra Banks suddenly fired her team consisting of Nigel Barker, Miss J. Alexander and Jay Manuel … and now we know why.
“We reached a point, where were feel the show needs a new boost,” Tyra told Access Hollywood at the 2012 Matrix Awards in New York City on Monday. “It’s very difficult because I love my guys, they’re my guys,” she added. “They’ve been there since the beginning of the show.” Read more…
I guess Tyra Banks is aware that she’s grasping at straws on this season of “America’s Next Top Model.” You know when you do a segment called “Tooch Teach” that it’s time to change stuff up. After 19 Cycles of almost exactly the same thing, Tyra has decided to clean house for the next season of the show. Yesterday, J. Alexander, Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker were dismissed from the “Top Model” family to make way for “major changes planned for [the next season].” PR mogul Kelly Cutrone was the only judge to survive the blood bath. But that could be because Tyra’s scared of her. I know I am. Keep reading »
This season of “America’s Next Top Model” has been particularly dull. The UK vs. US premise seems secondary to Tyra’s shameless attempts to promote her Modelland books. Last night, Tyra achieved an unprecedented level of ridiculousness with her “booty tooch teach.” She had special “booty tooch” hot shorts and “training tooches” (ass pads) for all the contestants to wear. But things weren’t all tranquil in Toochland. American model hopeful AzMarie refused to wear her training tooch because she felt it would take away from her androgyny. Oh, and because she’s a “grown ass woman.” She had a point, but she paid dearly for crossing Tyra and was dismissed from the tooch teach. Her loss. Because it was very informative. Whether you’re an aspiring Intoxibella, or just a regular woman in need of a tooching lesson, click through to see all do’s and don’ts.
For the next season of “America’s Next Top Model,” host Tyra Banks is hoping to incite an age-old rivalry between the Brits and Americans. She’s bringing some of her past British “Top Model” contestants over to go up against a crop of seven new model babies in “ANTM: British Invasion.” One’s already doing the “booty tooch.” The gimmicks never stop with this one. Most of the ex-contestants of “America’s Next Top Model” go on to, well … fade into obscurity. But not Cycle 10 contestant Fatima Siad. Siad has walked in Dries Van Noten and Hermes shows, and this week, a new Herve Leger ad featuring the gorgeous Somali model was released. Take a long look. [CocoPerez]
In a scene from “Scouted,” the E! reality TV series premiering this evening — in which model scouts troll the malls, parking lots, and fast food chains of suburbia looking for the next Gisele Bundchen — a middle-aged woman excitedly approaches a willowy girl in a grocery store.
“Have you ever thought about modeling?” she inquires, eyeing up her young prey with leering enthusiasm.
I sat there thinking, Is she talking to her friend? Because standing next to the skinny young blonde with the Byronesque (read: large) profile and receding chin was a much more attractive girl. But, no, the scout was talking to the odd-looking one. Keep reading »
After four cycles, 45 judging panels, 54 different contestants, and many of his beautiful, signature capes, André Leon Talley bids farewell to theAmerica’s Next Top Model judging panel. Wednesday night’s cycle 17 finale, was his final episode (next season, Kelly Cutrone will take his seat). His addition to the panel last year for cycle 14 was heralded as a new, high-fashion direction for the show. …
Along with serious fashion credentials, Talley brought sass, made-up words, and a fascinating dynamic with Tyra to each episode. He also, of course, wore great hats, chunky jewelry, and disdainful expressions where needed; he once even waved a cane faux-threateningly, which was wonderful. See a video compilation of ALT’s best moments on the show in this video…
“When I did my show, created my show or whatever, I also created a persona on ‘Top Model.’ And it’s a character … So, when I’m sitting there and I have all this make-up on, and I’m like, ‘Your picture’s not fierce…’ talking all that and reprimanding the girls, that is a character … I don’t do that, like, in real life; I’m passive aggressive. I’m anti-confrontational; I’m even in coaching to learn how to be confrontational. It’s a character, but people think it’s real. I’m so not sexy. I know how to turn it on for a picture, but I’m not sexy in real life.”
– Tyra Banks on her “ANTM” alter ego. I wonder if she calls her alter ego Tookie. I wonder if she looks in her mirror each morning and whispers, “I am Tookie” to her reflection. I want to believe this so badly — that Tyra is really humble and meek and not the egomaniac she comes off as. Really I do. [Clutch Mag]
