In my humble opinion, the American Music Awards are kind of the red-headed stepchild of all of the music awards. And thanks to Miley Cyrus’ performance with Robin Thicke at the VMAs earlier this year, the AMAs will really have to bring their A-game if they want to stand out— and I think they will.
That’s why we’ll be watching and live tweeting, every step (and inappropriate dance number) of the way. (Above, watch the livestream of the red carpet.) Keep reading »
Sunday night, Hayden Panettiere showed up to the American Music Awards looking rather … different than usual. It took me a minute, but I finally realized what had changed. Hayden had discovered dark eyebrow pencil and has eschewed her California tan. Here, she’s wearing pencil in a shade or two darker than her normal brow and is embracing her inner paleness. Doesn’t it look dramatic?
The American Music Awards, an annual assessment of the state of the music industry. A chance for music superstars to mix, mingle and enjoy excessive gift bags. Also, another opportunity for Taylor Swift to pretend to be surprised when she wins something (she is super, super good at that). And as always, the clothes ranged from fantastic to fartworthy. Let’s take a look.
It seems like the American Music Awards are kind of like the off-brand Grammys. Sure, some of the big stars are there, but, like, Jay-Z and Beyonce aren’t exactly banging down the door to make an appearance. And also, what’s up with Sprint throwing its name up all over everything? Kind of tacky, no? Just about as tacky as some of the outfits worn by the potpourri of rock, hip hop and country stars in attendance at last night’s program. Click through to see what we mean.
Yeah, so Justin Bieber
won the biggest award, Artist of the Year, at last night’s American Music Awards and Rihanna
gave great performances. But the moment we were waiting for was New Kids On The Block getting on stage with the Backstreet Boys for a medley of their biggest songs—”Step by Step,” “You’ve Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Everybody,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Larger Than Life.” When do tickets go on sale for their joint tour
this summer? Keep reading »
Last night’s American Music Awards were pretty darn amusing, from the opening medley of Janet Jackson’s classics to Lady Gaga
‘s piano bursting into flames as she sat down before it. But the stand-out number was the last: Adam Lambert
‘s performance of “For Your Entertainment.” The single is thoroughly eh, but the image of him holding the leash of two men in bondage gear as they crawled across the stage was pretty provocative. Then there was the moment where one of the dancers licked his belt, the part where he humped his mic stand, and then when he felt up the leg of a dancer straddling him. Oh, and then there was the moment when he aggressively made out with his keyboard player. Keep reading »
Paula Abdul must’ve decided she was going to be the belle of the ball last night at the American Music Awards, so she really made a splash on the red carpet. She needed not one, not two, but THREE lackeys to help her navigate that Enzoani dress. Hope those kids got some free champers after that. [Los Angeles, 11/22/09] Keep reading »
On last night’s American Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez performed her new single, “Louboutins,” and despite writing an entire song about them, her high-priced footwear did not offer their support. J.Lo fell on her ass big time
, but only East Coast viewers got to glimpse this hilarity during the telecast. The fall was edited out of the West Coast airing. Thank God for YouTube, amiright? Keep reading »
