Oops, No One Noticed This Typo In “American Psycho” Until Now

How many times have we watched “American Psycho” and never noticed this typo? As Twitter user Southpaw noticed after reading this BuzzFeed post that employed a GIF from the scene where Christian Bale’s character gets a business card from Paul Allen, there is a typo in phrase “mergers and acquisitions” on top of the card. It says “mergers and aquisitions,” with no “C.” The IMDB trivia page for the movie [spoiler alert] says that word is misspelled on all the business cards used in the movie.  ”American Psycho”‘s  copyediter must have been off that day. Or maybe Patrick Bateman killed him.

We Expected More, Scott!

All Kardashian-West hell broke loose this past weekend, what with Yeezus leaking on Friday and baby Kimye joining the klub the next morning. Not to be overshadowed by something so silly as his own child (come on, we know Kanye better than that), Ye’s “American Psycho”-inspired (heavily inspired) promotional clip, starring Scott Disick, hit the web this morning. The verdict? I was expecting Scott to channel a bit more of Patrick Bateman’s trademark … let’s say, finesse? The short video is entertaining, to be sure, but Disick does not have a future in acting, be it as Bateman or otherwise. KIND OF disappointed, Scott, I thought this role was made for you! Where Is Patrick Bateman Now? Oh, Having A Threesome With Rihanna And Chris Brown

Bret Easton Ellis, author of American Psycho, was very busy this weekend … thinking of ideas for a possible sequel to the book. So what is Patrick Bateman up to nowadays? Ellis took to Twitter to share his darkly frantic brainstorm. For starters, Patrick wants to have a threesome with Rihanna and Chris Brown. Disturbed? It gets so much more twisted. Hint: The Kardashian sisters, Kris Humphries, Chris Martin, Lindsay Lohan, David Beckham, Gavin Rossdale, and Katy Perry’s trainer are all involved. And lots and lots of murder. Oh, and if you didn’t figure it out from the original, Patrick Bateman is gay. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. I’m frightened. Social networking and celebrity culture would only make Patrick more psychotic, it seems. If that’s even possible. Click through to see Ellis’ highly disturbing Patrick Batemen musings. [Buzzfeed]

So, it was only a matter of time before Vice magazine, the arbiters of all things desperately cutting edge, would deign to make some kind of commentary on Occupy Wall Street. Align themselves with the 99 percent–an earnest movement aimed at bringing forth a more equitable model of wealth and social justice? Forget it. Instead, the Terry Richardson-loving, snark-crackling mag went and staged an “American Psycho”-themed fashion shoot at Zuccotti Park, embedding well-coiffed male models among real-life protesters. And as if that weren’t offensive and sigh-inducing enough, the irony-blasting folks had one model sporting this “suck 1 percent of my dick” sign. Rather tacky, no? [Vice]

Tom Cruise Inspired Christian Bale In “American Psycho”?

Who can forget Christian Bale’s haunting portrayal of yuppie serial killer Patrick Bateman in “American Psycho”? I swear, after I saw that movie, I went out on a date with a hot Wall Street suit-and-tie who told me he was a Genesis fan. I bolted out of the restaurant, convinced that he was planning to dissect me and play with my blood. In a recent Blackbook interview, “American Psycho” director Mary Harron revealed Christian’s true inspiration for the role was … none other than our favorite Scientologist, Tom Cruise. She says, “We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave. And then one day he called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on ‘David Letterman,’ and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.”

Thank you, Christian. I’ve had a sneaking suspicion for a while that Tom is really an alien. Hey, you don’t get to be a higher-up in The Church of Scientology for nothing. After the jump, some more celebrities that have used other stars as inspiration for roles. [Celebitchy] Keep reading »

You Must Watch This: Lydia Hearst’s Odd “American Psycho” Threesome

Those of you who’ve seen “American Psycho” will remember the prostitute from the famous Patrick-Bateman-going-bats**it-crazy-with-a-chainsaw scene. Poor girl ended up bloodied and dead at the hands of her psychotic john and his amazing chainsaw-throwing precision. And now Lydia Hearst, publishing heiress and wannabe supermodel, is helping us relive those beautiful moments all over again in Miles Fisher’s new cover of the Talking Heads classic “This Must Be the Place.”

In this truly creepy “American Psycho” homage, Fisher plays Patrick Bateman surprisingly well; Hearst looks confused, pouty and quite a lot like the not-so-cute hooker she’s meant to be playing. Oh, and there’s a decent amount of axe-wielding action for The Frisky contingent that gets off on blood. Check out the video after the jump and tell us: cool or creepy? Keep reading »

“American Psycho” Author Loves The Hills

Who here has seen or read “American Psycho” by Bret Easton Ellis? Remember that scene when the main character (played by the ever-bangable Christian Bale) is running through the halls covered in blood, wielding a chainsaw in hot pursuit of another hooker he wants to kill? Okay, keep that imagine in mind when you read this quote from American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis: “I think ‘The Hills’ is the greatest show I have ever seen in my life.” [Gawker] Keep reading »
