Amanda Knox Threatens To Sue Over Upcoming Film About Meredith Kercher’s Murder

Amanda Knox

Amanda Knox’s lawyers are threatening to sue the makers of the upcoming BBC film “The Face of an Angel,” about Knox’s alleged murder of her roommate, if it is “damaging to her image.” Knox was living as an exchange student in Perugia, Italy, in 2007 when her 21-year-old roommate Meredith Kercher was found dead in the house they shared. Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were convicted in the murder and served four years in an Italian prison before being released on appeal in 2011. ‘Double Jeopardy’ Could Block Amanda Knox Extradition

Amanda Knox won’t be going back to Italy for her new murder trial, but if she is found guilty in absentia and appeals fail, she could be facing a mammoth legal battle at home in the US. If Italy seeks her extradition, American courts will have to decide whether the constitutional ban on “double jeopardy”—being tried twice for the same crime—trumps the extradition treaty the US has with Italy, Reuters reports. The new trial is expected to begin late this year or early in 2014, Knox’s Italian lawyer says. Read more…
