“The Bling Ring” has already been in theaters for a couple of weeks now, and I am thoroughly embarrassed to admit that I’ve yet to see it. It’s not for lack of wanting to see it — I’ve been waiting on this film for, like, actual human years — but because the majority (75 percent, in fact) of my preferred moviegoing partners are not in the same time zone as me at the moment, let alone area code. And also, maybe just a LITTLE, because I live in great fear of finding myself disappointed by the film based off one of my favorite True Hollywood Stories of all time, not to mention the most transfixing shitshow of a reality TV series to ever hit E! (which, obviously, is really saying something). But I have a bit more confidence in the handling of the stranger-than-fiction tale knowing that Nicki Moore, the character based off of “Pretty Wild” star Alexis Neiers, is in the very capable hands of Emma Watson, who went so Method as to create a Tumblr for the role. As in, a Tumblr from the perspective of Nicki Moore, as penned by Emma Watson… and man, oh man, does Emma hit all the bases. From shoddy cityscape camera phone photos to a touching tribute to Lindsay Lohan and her “spirituality,” NickiMooreForever2012 is pretty much on point. [Crushable]
When thinking about the list of celebrities to play me in a movie of my own life, Emma Watson is pretty close to the top of my list. Apparently Alexis Neiers — one of the inspirations behind the new film “The Bling Ring,” directed by Sofia Coppola — does not feel the same way. The bratty former reality star vows to shed light on the truth about “The Bling Ring,” both the movie and the original Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales, in her upcoming book. Keep reading »
“I was in complete denial. I tried to drown myself in the toilet. I was in so much pain because of the detox from opiates and benzos. I was sitting in a cell with this girl; I was in protective custody, waiting to go to court. I asked her the one question you’re never supposed to ask somebody when you’re in jail: “What are you in here for?” She ended up telling me this horrific story about how her meth-addicted mom started giving her meth when she was 12. When you use meth for a number of years, you go into psychosis. You become schizophrenic, and that’s what happened to this girl. She had been using for four years, she was 16 at the time, and one day her mom told her, “I need you to save me. And the only way I can be saved is if you go kill the family across the street and wait for the police to show up.” She did—she slaughtered this family in full-on psychosis. One of them survived. The girl was about 22 when I talked to her. She had been fighting this case for five years. After I told her what I was going through, she said, “Remember, this time you can walk into that courtroom with God.” Keep reading »
Time for your Adderall, everyone! The full theatrical trailer for Sofia Coppola’s “The Bling Ring,” starring Emma Watson, has arrived! This. Looks. Stupid. Goooooood.
“The Bling Ring” has sounded promising since news first relayed that Sofia Coppola would be adapting the story for the silver screen. It goes something like this: a band of spoiled, fame-obsessed Hollywood teenagers break into the homes of stars like Orlando Bloom and Paris Hilton. It’s a startling (and, as you’ll recall, true) tale of celebrity, greed, and youth in the age of the Internet, which the teens used to track down the whereabouts of their high-profile victims. The first photo of the cast hit the web this week via Entertainment Weekly, and I must say, they’ve styled the naughty mid-aughties kids to a T: Emma Watson looks every bit the young, wealthy heathen, replete with a fur vest and, naturally, the requisite how-old-are-you-why-do-you-have-that Birkin bag. The rest of the cast is spot-on, too: attractive, expensively-dressed, big iced coffees, no-soul-behind-my-Dior-sunglasses stares … yeah, I’m really looking forward to this movie. It’s too bad it won’t be in theaters until next year. [Crushable]
One of the things I never sit around wondering is “What is Alexis Neiers up to?” Praise be, all has been quiet since the Vanity Fair article about Alexis and the “bling ring” of friends who robbed celebrities’ homes, the jail time she served for robbing Orlando Bloom’s home, and her horrible E! reality show, “Pretty Wild.” This morning, however, 19-year-old wannabe model Alexis was arrested for probation violation after being released from the slammer in July and sources tell TMZ she was in possession of black tar heroin. Alexis also allegedly had a fake Florida’s driver’s license and was reportedly booked for probation violation, possession of a controlled substance, and perjury (for owning a fake ID). We totally saw this coming from 3,000 miles away. This troublemaker has gotten herself into Lindsay Lohan-level problems in one-tenth of the time. [TMZ.com] Keep reading »
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from “Pretty Wild” star Alexis Neiers, seeing as she’s been locked up in jail and all. Alexis is fresh out of the pokey and still denying involvement in the “bling ring” robberies, in which a group of L.A. teenagers robbed the homes of celebs like Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. Even though Alexis and Lindsay had jail cells right next to each other in a California correctional facility — where Alexis says she could hear Lindsay crying on Lindz’s first day — she says the pair never spoke once. How strange! [E! Online] Keep reading »
You might have thought when Lindsay Lohan got locked up, we’d be granted a reprieve from her 24/7 news coverage. Haha, no. Tracking LiLo’s day-to-day goings-on is just as breathless when she’s in jail as when she’s posing in the nude. Fortunately for those of us who couldn’t care less about her jailhouse dinner menu, Lindsay may only serve two weeks of her 90-day sentence as prisoner #24097527.
So, what have Lindsay’s first days of jail been like? They’ve included painkillers (maybe), cold cereal and visits from her mom and sis. Keep reading »
