What do you do if you’re a D-list celebrity couple whose union is on the brink of collapse under the glare of the spotlight? Why, you agree to hash out your disagreements in the presence of other D-list celebrity couples also on the brink of collapse on VH1′s new show “Couples Therapy,” of course! Among the couples who have moved into the “Couples Therapy” house is Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison, married for just over a year, whose troubles have nothing to do with their 35-year age difference, but her insistence on dressing provocatively and reveling in the attention it brings them. Look, I know I have to suspend my disbelief for a show like this, because reality TV is never completely real, but I am just not buying Courtney and Doug’s strife. I mean, he willingly dresses up as pervy Santa Claus to her slutty Mrs. Claus in Christmas-themed photoshoots. Anyway, putting aside the fact that they each obviously need therapy for their own separate issues not couples therapy (because they shouldn’t be a couple, I mean, right?), I’m glad they’re on this show if only because I can’t get enough of Courtney Stodden. Sometimes I feel like if I just stare long and hard enough, I will understand her. Keep reading »

I’ll admit, I didn’t watch VH1′s first season of “Couples Therapy” but I will be watching this season, which premieres October 3rd, as Dr. Jenn Berman and a team of shrinks try to help celebrity couples with their marital issues. The D-list cast includes Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchinson (and possibly their new pup Dourtney?), former “Real Housewives Of New York City” cast members Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, reality star Shayne and Nik Lamas-Richie and more. I’m dying to get inside those marriages. Just dying. Actually, I’m most excited for Alex and Simon. They’re relationship has been making me twitch for years. Bathing suits, fights and lots of crying! Yessss! This looks the kind of trashy TV I can’t resist. [ONTD]
“Once he was finally out of my body, I experienced a tsunami of endorphins that was almost orgasmic, and I understand completely the stories other women have written about ecstatic birth. Simon was sitting behind me at the point of birth, and later when we untangled ourselves he discovered he’d actually ejaculated though hadn’t felt any of the normal lead-up to that. It may seem distasteful to some, and definitely neither of us was thinking of sex at the time, but with the rush of emotion and my lower nerve endings going crazy, it’s not too far a stretch to say that it’s a profound experience.”
– Alex McCord, formerly of “The Real Housewives Of New York City,” describes the moment her son François was born — and husband Simon Van Kempen jizzed himself. This quote is from Little Kids, Big City, the book the couple wrote a couple years ago, but somehow this amazing moment didn’t release into the blogosphere, heh, until now. [Jezebel]
- Four of the “Real Housewives of New York City” will soon be rockin’ the unemployment line, Us Weekly claims. Kelly Bensimon, Alex McCord, Jill Zarin and Cindy Barshop will all supposedly be booted from the show. [Us Weekly]
- There’s an internet petition to keep Whitney Cummings’ show “Whitney” from airing. “Please, let’s get rid of this show before we have to live knowing that something like this happened on television,” it reads. Sounds like brilliant marketing to me, actually. [New York Observer]

Is this really happening again? Is another “Real Housewives” star trying to turn their 15 minutes of reality TV fame into a music career? Actually, no. A “Real Housewives”‘ star’s husband is following in the footsteps of Countess LuAnn, Kim Zolciak, and Danielle Staub. Alex McCord‘s hubby, Simon Van Kempen — both from “The Real Housewives of NYC” — has released his first song, “I Am Real.” It is just as Eurotrash as you’d expect from the banana hammock-wearing Aussie. Simon told PopEater that his style is similar to Jarvis Cocker from Pulp, and while I appreciate the reference — love Jarvis — I politely disagree. (Though I do think it establishes him as more of a gay icon than Sonja.) But what do you think? [PopEater] Keep reading »
Alex McCord was by far my favorite NYC housewife this year because she finally stopped holding in her anger and let people know exactly what she thought of them. The main target on the receiving end of Alex’s wrath was a very deserving Jill Zarin. We had a little hint of Alex calling Jill out during the season, but even I could feel Alex’s frustration at Jill’s annoying and defensive arguing. On the reunion tonight at 9 p.m., though, it seems Alex has practiced exactly what she wants to say to the hawker of fabrics and gossip. Check out the video above for a little taste of their word battle and peep Bethenny Frankel reaming Kelly Bensimon after the jump. And is it just me or does it look as if another Kelly personality is about to come out when the clip ends? Keep reading »
Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen have been getting flack for their parenting style since season one of “The Real Housewives of New York City.” First there was the time their sons, Francois and Johan, misbehaved at a fancy dinner. They climbed on and under the table and even ate from a guest’s plate. Then, this season Francois was caught on tape climbing a stranger’s leg, which sparked controversy between Alex and Jill Zarin and LuAnn De Lesseps, who ridiculed Alex for his behavior. So it came as a shock when she and Simon inked a parenting book deal.
But a day before Alex and Simon’s book, Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City (With Lessons on Life and Love for Your Own Concrete Jungle), is released, Alex is making headlines less for her unique parenting style, but more for her admission of drinking while pregnant. A couple weeks ago, I got invited to an “amazing cocktail party shopping event”: “How To Dress to Land A Millionaire.” Ridiculous, right? But when I saw who was on the guest panel — Alex McCord and Ramona Singer from “The Real Housewives of New York City,” I knew I had to go. I even drafted a few questions I hoped to have the chance to ask the ladies. A week ago, I got an email saying the event had been canceled — well, postponed, technically, “until later in the fall.” Oh, noes! First, it was moved from Saks to some stuffy restaurant on the Upper East Side. Now, it’s postponed — perhaps indefinitely?! What do you think could have happened? After the jump, my nine best guesses as to why Alex and Ramona won’t be sharing their tips tonight on how to land a millionaire. Keep reading »
There’s drama, drama, drama over the next season of “The Real Housewives of New York City.” While Kelly Bensimon, the newbie housewife-that-everyone-loves-to-hate, is officially on board, the original cast members––Bethany Frankel, Alex McCord, Ramona Singer, and Jill Zarin (there was no mention of LuAnn de Lesseps)––are rumored to be stalling on signing their contracts for the third season because they’re holding out for six-figure deals. Aren’t these women already loaded?! I hope these six-figures are going to Creaky Joints, the arthritis charity the Housewives threw a benefit for last season.
