Morning Quickies: Which “Real Housewives Of NYC” Are Getting Fired?

  • Four of the “Real Housewives of New York City” will soon be rockin’ the unemployment line, Us Weekly claims. Kelly Bensimon, Alex McCord, Jill Zarin and Cindy Barshop will all supposedly be booted from the show. [Us Weekly]
  • There’s an internet petition to keep Whitney Cummings’ show “Whitney” from airing. “Please, let’s get rid of this show before we have to live knowing that something like this happened on television,” it reads. Sounds like brilliant marketing to me, actually. [New York Observer]
  • A Florida judge has ruled Casey Anthony has to pay law enforcement officials $97K to reimburse them for the costs of investigating the disappearance of her daughter, Caylee. [Miami Herald]

Please, No: “Real Housewives” Husband, Simon Van Kempen, Sings “I Am Real”

Is this really happening again? Is another “Real Housewives” star trying to turn their 15 minutes of reality TV fame into a music career? Actually, no. A “Real Housewives”‘ star’s husband is following in the footsteps of Countess LuAnn, Kim Zolciak, and Danielle Staub. Alex McCord‘s hubby, Simon Van Kempen — both from “The Real Housewives of NYC” — has released his first song, “I Am Real.” It is just as Eurotrash as you’d expect from the banana hammock-wearing Aussie. Simon told PopEater that his style is similar to Jarvis Cocker from Pulp, and while I appreciate the reference — love Jarvis — I politely disagree. (Though I do think it establishes him as more of a gay icon than Sonja.) But what do you think? [PopEater] Keep reading »

“The Real Housewives Of New York City” Reunion: Watch Alex Take On Jill

Alex McCord was by far my favorite NYC housewife this year because she finally stopped holding in her anger and let people know exactly what she thought of them. The main target on the receiving end of Alex’s wrath was a very deserving Jill Zarin. We had a little hint of Alex calling Jill out during the season, but even I could feel Alex’s frustration at Jill’s annoying and defensive arguing. On the reunion tonight at 9 p.m., though, it seems Alex has practiced exactly what she wants to say to the hawker of fabrics and gossip. Check out the video above for a little taste of their word battle and peep Bethenny Frankel reaming Kelly Bensimon after the jump. And is it just me or does it look as if another Kelly personality is about to come out when the clip ends? Keep reading »

Alex McCord Admits To Drinking While Pregnant And Other Interesting Parenting Advice

Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen have been getting flack for their parenting style since season one of “The Real Housewives of New York City.” First there was the time their sons, Francois and Johan, misbehaved at a fancy dinner. They climbed on and under the table and even ate from a guest’s plate. Then, this season Francois was caught on tape climbing a stranger’s leg, which sparked controversy between Alex and Jill Zarin and LuAnn De Lesseps, who ridiculed Alex for his behavior. So it came as a shock when she and Simon inked a parenting book deal.

But a day before Alex and Simon’s book, Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City (With Lessons on Life and Love for Your Own Concrete Jungle), is released, Alex is making headlines less for her unique parenting style, but more for her admission of drinking while pregnant. Why Did The Real Housewives Of NYC Cancel Their Event?

A couple weeks ago, I got invited to an “amazing cocktail party shopping event”: “How To Dress to Land A Millionaire.” Ridiculous, right? But when I saw who was on the guest panel — Alex McCord and Ramona Singer from “The Real Housewives of New York City,” I knew I had to go. I even drafted a few questions I hoped to have the chance to ask the ladies. A week ago, I got an email saying the event had been canceled — well, postponed, technically, “until later in the fall.” Oh, noes! First, it was moved from Saks to some stuffy restaurant on the Upper East Side. Now, it’s postponed — perhaps indefinitely?! What do you think could have happened? After the jump, my nine best guesses as to why Alex and Ramona won’t be sharing their tips tonight on how to land a millionaire. Keep reading »

The Really Rich Housewives Of New York City Want More Money

There’s drama, drama, drama over the next season of “The Real Housewives of New York City.” While Kelly Bensimon, the newbie housewife-that-everyone-loves-to-hate, is officially on board, the original cast members––Bethany Frankel, Alex McCord, Ramona Singer, and Jill Zarin (there was no mention of LuAnn de Lesseps)––are rumored to be stalling on signing their contracts for the third season because they’re holding out for six-figure deals. Aren’t these women already loaded?! I hope these six-figures are going to Creaky Joints, the arthritis charity the Housewives threw a benefit for last season.

Quickies!: The Recession Hits “The Real Housewives Of New York City”

  • Alex McCord of “The Real Housewives of New York City” was just laid off from her visual merchandising gig at Victoria’s Secret. Now she and Simon will have to curtail their extravagant shopping sprees and off-season trips to St. Bart’s. Oh no! And what about their $200,000 brownstone renovation?! If they’re lucky, Bravo isn’t filming this. [People.com]

  • Tim Gunn is so attracted to Anderson Cooper, who remains elusive about his sexuality, that he says he’s been trying to make a date with the CNN anchor for a year-and-a-half. We think they’d make a cute couple. [OK!]
