Now here’s something you don’t hear from the celebs of tinseltown everyday.
According to The New York Post, Canadian born singer Alanis Morissette is convinced the paparazzi serve a useful purpose in Hollywood as they “force transparency” on the celebrities they photograph.
“I actually like the paparazzi,” the “Ironic” singer reveals, who has been photographed on numerous occasions out and about with her 1-year-old son Ever and husband Mario Treadway. “They’re forcing transparency… What are we afraid of? Our relationships being dysfunctional?” Read more…
Seriously, NME, aren’t you a widely regarded music magazine? How can you not tell the difference between Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette? Aren’t you stuck in the ’90s anyway? Ugh. [Facebook via The Clearly Dope]
“Fatism is an ‘ism’ like any other, but our culture turns a blind eye toward that particular version of separatism. Perhaps it is our fear of our own frailties and humanity that makes us want to turn the other gaunt cheek away from the fat we see. If we move away from it, we don’t have to look at these complexities within ourselves. Perhaps it’s easier to label a fat person with qualities we don’t like in ourselves than to want to find out more about what their vulnerabilities are and what makes them tick. … So for the love of being part of this larger conversation around addressing the pop-culture-sanctioned-fatism, next time we see someone who is yo-yo dieting and has a tortured relationship with food and their body, rather than make fun of them, I beseech us all to pause and offer a little curiosity for what lurks underneath, and, if appropriate, maybe even move toward it.”
– Alanis Morissette has written a really smart and compelling piece for iVillage about the “double-edged ‘butter knife’ of weight perception” in America and her own struggles with it. This is just a snippet but the whole piece is worth a read! [iVillage]
I like this version of Alanis Morissette’s song “You Oughta Know” much better, thanks to the cross-eyed bear in it. Quick question: was it the bear that she went down on in a theater? I hope not. [BuzzFeed]

Yesterday I was messing around on the internet when I saw a headline that said Alanis Morissette had gotten married to an underground rapper named Souleye. When I saw the article I thought, “It couldn’t be him,” but I clicked on it anyway. The article showed a large picture of Alanis’s new man and my jaw hit the floor.
I know him. Keep reading »
