The Unfriendly Skies: 7 Celebs Behaving Badly In Airports

The friendly skies have gotten a little choosy about who gets to fly in them, or so it seems for Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who’s banned from all United Airline flights. The actor landed himself on the no-fly list as a result of an unruly, alcohol-filled episode early this month. Meyers worried the crew when they saw him guzzling down drinks in the first class lounge before an early flight. Their concern was well-founded, because while boarding the plane, Meyers became belligerent and disruptive, causing him to be escorted from the aircraft. The incident also proved that there are some issues that the actor’s sexiness cannot solve. This was not Meyers’ first run-in with air and alcohol—he was previously arrested for attacking a staff member at a bar in Charles de Gaulle airport. [Radar Online]

But on the bright side, he is in good company! Read on for a list of other celebrities who had an issue at airports before they even got off the ground. Keep reading »

A Kiss Is Just A Kiss … Or An Airport Security Breach

Last Sunday, there was a big post-underpants bomber mess at Newark Airport in New Jersey. The entire place was completely shut down—everyone in the terminal was evacuated and had to be rescanned to enter—because some dude walked the wrong way through security and disappeared into the crowd. So did this man have nefarious intentions? No, in true fairytale form, it turns out all he was after was a kiss. Here’s what happened: TSA agent Ruben Hernandez was keeping watch at the security barrier when an unnamed gentleman said farewell to his lady friend. The lady went off for her flight, and the man tried to follow her. At first, no problem—Hernandez stopped Romeo. But then the agent’s cell phone rang. While Hernandez was distracted, our unnamed suitor slipped unnoticed under the rope to spend some more time snogging his lady love. And panic ensued. All I have to say is, come on! Hasn’t TSA seen a romantic comedy before? (Or that episode of Friends when Janice shows up at the airport to bid Chandler goodbye as he leaves for his originally BS trip to Yemen?) Apparently not. They are currently using video footage and cross-checking it with airplane manifests to try to find the woman in question, hoping that she will lead to the still MIA Romeo. [New York Post]

Pam Anderson Strips A Dude To His Skivvies In Banned PETA Commercial

For a group that can kind of be no fun sometimes, PETA sure manages to make some hot and provocative commercials. This spot, called “Cruelty Doesn’t Fly,” features Pam Anderson as a bad-ass TSA employee screening passengers before they head to their flights. Only, she won’t let anyone through wearing leather or fur. Instead, she strips them down. The most unruly passenger — whom she not only screens, but, um, has to discipline as well — is Steve-O. Andy Dick appears too, though he’s surprisingly well-behaved. The racy commercial was supposed to be shown on screens in New York’s three airports, only CNN Airport Network execs felt it was a little too over the top. They told PETA that showing the spot would be “particularly sensitive because children make up part of the demographic in airports.” What do you think—should PETA be allowed to air the ad? Or should they be focused on saving Aubrey O’Day’s dog instead? [Starpulse] Keep reading »

Quick Pic: Swine Flu Can’t Scare Crazy

Zac Efron (Harajuku) lovers greet the star at an airport in Tokyo, where the swine flu scare prompted his fans to proclaim their love for him via fashion statements. Perhaps they read our DIY swine flu mask story? The star was delayed for an hour as doctors checked him for the virus. We think that was just an excuse to make him take his shirt off. We so can’t blame them. [Tokyo, 5/13/09] Keep reading »

Go To The Philadelphia Airport, Get A Date

Whenever I fly I hope my seat will be 19C, the one next to the cute young guy reading The New York Times Magazine. Sadly, that never happens. But apparently other people are luckier, because a survey found that nearly one in 10 people had gone out with someone they had met at the airport or on their flight. Part of my problem might be that I never fly in or out of Philly — that airport ranked the best for singles to meet, probably because it has comfortable chairs, art exhibits, shops, bars and loads of delays. [P.S. Doesn't this guy kinda look like a better dressed K-Fed?] [MSNBC]
