Al Roker allegedly caused a stir on an American Airlines flight this week when he refused to give up his first-class seat so Alex Van Halen and wife could sit next to each other. What was his excuse? Oh, he claimed it was because he was allergic to dogs and changing seats would put him closer to a passenger traveling with a dog in a crate. Hmmm. Based on this photographic evidence, we’re not so sure that’s true. Then again, poodles are hypoallergenic. It was the Van Halens who saved the day. They quietly moved to business class. Celebrities seem to get into trouble on airplanes way too often. Usually, they did something kind of wack—like when Gerard Depardieu emptied his bladder or when Josh Duhamel refused to get off his BlackBerry. But when Leisha Hailey of “The L-Word” got booted off a Southwest Airlines flight yesterday, she says it was for a very different reason. She says she was kicked off the flight for kissing her girlfriend.

“I have been discriminated against by @SouthwestAir. Flt. attendant said that it was a ‘family’ airline and kissing was not ok,” she tweeted yesterday after the incident. “This is an outrage. I demand a public apology by @SouthwestAir and a refund. Hate is not a family value. I will never fly this airline.”

She claims to audio and video of the entire incident, and is now calling for a boycott.

I’ve said it a million times, but I’ll say it again: I love kids. But being stuck on a six-hour flight with a squalling toddler right behind me, killing my enjoyment of my millionth bag of peanuts and whatever crap movie is on, totally sucks. But is a screaming infant so annoying that I might pay extra for a seat on a child-free flight? Apparently, I might have the option, as some fliers are calling upon airlines to offer kid-free flights — or “family only” sections — so that their travel experience can be temper tantrum-free. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Calls In Bomb Threat On Plane Carrying Man To His Wedding

There are crazy exes and there are cuh-ra-zy exes. The woman who called in a bomb threat on an airplane carrying her ex-boyfriend to his wedding takes the cake. Canadian police said they received a report of a man carrying a bomb on a flight from Toronto to Karachi, Pakistan, where the man planned to get hitched. After an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, 273 passengers were evacuated from the plane (seriously, this is my worst nightmare) and a SWAT team arrested the groom. No bombs were found on the plane, of course, and the ex-girlfriend admitted to authorities she was just trying to ruin his big day. A few weeks from today, while you suckers are surreptitiously reading The Frisky on your office computers, I’ll be lying in the sun at a hotel in Los Angeles. There’s a pool on the roof and cabanas and waiters who’ll serve you cocktails poolside. I don’t intend to get up from my beached whale position all week — except, you know, to have sex with my boyfriend whenever I damn feel like it. It’s going to be heaven.

But there’s one little detail — two details, really — that throw a wrench in the whole vacation: I have to fly there and I have to fly back. They tore s**t up on an 11-hour flight from India to London—they were so punk-rock that the cops were waiting to arrest them on the tarmac. The two got it on while Clare’s two-year-old son cried and Daniel’s girlfriend slept nearby. When the GF woke up, she and Daniel got in a fight and he threw his iPod headphones at her. Some people’s pets are like kids to them…and any parent would go nuts if you put their kid in the cargo hold. That’s why Pet Airways will fly your furry friend to your desired destination on their own fleet of planes on pets-only flights.

Pet Airways only flies to five cities in the U.S. and charges a flat, one-way fee of $250. But pet owners interviewed by the AP say the cost is worth the piece of mind knowing their basset hound or tabby cat will be escorted onto the flight along with about 50 other pets, checked on every 15 minutes during the flight, and given a bathroom break on the layover.
