Tami Taylor 4 Eva
When I grow up, I want to be Tami Taylor. Read More »

ZOMG I LOVE HER SO MUCH. Tami Taylor, ugh, I mean Connie Britton, the actress who played Tami Taylor, best mom/wife in the history of ever on “Friday Night Lights,” has announced that she adopted a baby boy from Ethiopia! “It was such a wonderful moment of completion,” Britton said of holding baby Yoby in her arms for the first time after a three-year adoption process. “I thought I was going to collapse into a puddle of tears. I was just grinning from ear to ear.”

I find this so inspiring. I want to be a mother so much someday, and women like Connie Britton are a reminder that doing so without a partner is possible. Congrats! [ONTD]

Morning Quickies: Amy Winehouse Was Adopting A Child

  • Amy Winehouse was in the process of adopting a child from St. Lucia when she died last weekend of possible alcohol withdrawal. Dannika Augustine, a 10-year-old girl, has a mother and grandmother on the Caribbean island, but they were willing to give their daughter up for adoption to the singer so she could have a better life. Winehouse had repeatedly spoken in interviews about wanting to become a mother. How very sad. [NY Daily News]

Denise Richards Adopts, Lets Daughters Pick Baby’s Name

A big congratulations to Denise Richards! The actress and former wife of Charlie Sheen has adopted a baby girl. The new little one’s name is Eloise Joni Richards. Apparently, Denise let her and Charlie’s two daughters—Sam and Lola—pick their new sister’s name, hence “Eloise.” As for Joni—that’s Denise’s mama’s name. After the announcement of the adoption was made last night, Denise tweeted, “Thank you all for your sweet messages. The girls and I are over the moon and so is my dad Grandpa Irv…xo.” Here’s hoping that the life adjustment is a super easy one for all of them. But I do have to question the name Eloise. I mean, now the girl is fated to live at the Plaza and have a pet turtle Skipperdee. Though I guess as things go, that’s not so bad. [People] Keep reading »

Dear Wendy Updates: “No Kids, Please” Responds

It’s time again for “Dear Wendy Updates,” a feature where people I’ve given advice to in the past let us know whether they followed the advice and how they’re doing today. After the jump, we hear from “No Kids, Please,” who said she didn’t want to ever have small children, preferring, instead, to maybe one day adopt or foster older children. She wasn’t sure how her boyfriend felt about that and worried about the future of their relationship as a result. After the jump, an update from her. Keep reading »

Dear Wendy: “I Don’t Want Kids, But My Live-In Boyfriend Does. Are We Doomed?”

I have been in a wonderful relationship with my boyfriend for about a year and a half. We moved in together about a year ago and it has been going great! He is financially responsible (although we both deal with school loan debt), fun to be around, and has a great family. We have talked about getting married in the next few years and buying house, and I would love to be his wife for the rest of my life. But … I don’t ever want to have kids. Now, I know I am only 25 (as is he) so we have a ways before I have to start thinking about it, however, he is very family-oriented and has mentioned his desire to someday take a child with him to sports games. I made it clear to him that I have always wanted to adopt or foster older children rather than have my own kids but he has never really stated an opinion on that option. I’m worried that if we get married, he will make the assumption (as many do) that I will want kids eventually, and will start putting the pressure on me when we get closer to 30/35 at which point we’ll get divorced if I still don’t want kids. Is it safe to stay in a relationship with such a big difference of opinion, or the hope that I “might” someday change my mind? Is it too early to have a serious talk with him about it? I love him but am scared this is going to be the end of us. — No Kids, Please

Jillian Michaels Adopting From The Congo, Keeping Her Hard Body

“My dossier, which is your paperwork portfolio, is in to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Now it’s just a waiting game. It could be six months, twelve months; it could be two years. Or, it could be tomorrow! They call you and they say, ‘Oh, we have your referral,’ which is essentially the child they match you up with, and you go overseas and you get him or her.”

Jillian Michaels confirms that, now that her contract with “The Biggest Loser” is over, she is in the process of adopting a baby from the Congo. Last year, she let us in on her reasons for wanting to adopt rather than having one herself. “I can’t handle doing that to my body,” she said. How noble? This way, she helps a child in need … and doesn’t damage her six pack. [Showbiz Spy] Keep reading »

Angelina’s Tattoo Addition Has Many Thinking She’s Adopting Baby #7

Yesterday, Angelina Jolie visited Somali refugees at a camp near the Tunisia-Libya border. But of course it wasn’t the humanitarian work that had people talking. At the camp, Angelina was photographed in a tank top and it appears as though a line has been added to her tattoo which lists the latitude and longitude of where her children were born. This has many people guessing that Angie and Brad are adopting another baby. The new numbers on the tattoo aren’t easy to make out, but the first one appears to be 35 degrees north. Some think this means the couple could be adopting from Algeria.

But there’s an alternate theory. Keep reading »

Rod Stewart Talks About The Daughter He Put Up For Adoption

“[I was] absolutely stone broke. She was put up for adoption when I was 17 or 18, I think … Since her mom and dad have died, we’ve tried to come together and be close together, and it’s working out pretty well. I never felt like I was her dad, because I didn’t take her to school, change her nappies, there was no paternal thing there. But I’m trying.”

—Crooner Rod Stewart talks about Sarah Streeter, the first of his seven children, who was put up for adoption. She is now 46. Geez, Rod has been procreating for almost half a century. His wife Penny Lancaster is currently pregnant. [PopEater] Keep reading »

Girl Talk: I Placed My Son Up For Adoption

Fresh out of a long, committed relationship with my childhood sweetheart to whom I was engaged long before I was ever ready to fully commit myself to someone in that regard, I rebounded. His name was Stan* and he was quiet, shy, compassionate and funny at times. I knew he wasn’t “the one,” but I had fun with him. After five months of dating, I decided that I needed someone who was more ambitious and outspoken, and called things off with Stan … only to find out that I got knocked up the last time we were ever intimate. Quotable: Sandra Bullock On Louis, Her “Little Cajun Cookie”

“I think everything works out the way the universe wants it to work out. We don’t have any boys in our family. Boy, is everyone really happy about that. So he’s like the crown prince … He’s my little Cajun cookie.”

Sandra Bullock talking about her adopted son, Louis, on today’s “Today.” I wonder how long it’ll take Mrs. Fields to come up with a cookie based on this concept? [People] Keep reading »
