I needed no additional proof that Jennifer Lawrence is the least affected, “actress-y” actress in Hollywood. But now that I’ve read her best friend Laura Simpson’s firsthand account on MySpace (which is publishing articles now, apparently?) about being Jen’s date to the Oscars on Sunday night, it’s set in stone. Jen and Laura met seven years ago at an event and have been close ever since. If you don’t know what Laura looks like (that’s a picture of her and Jen above!), you definitely saw the back of her head when Jennifer Lawrence tripped on the red carpet and plunged downward. Jen grabbed Laura from behind to try and stop her from falling:

Having her name butchered by John Travolta at the Academy Awards on Sunday has maybe turned out to be the best thing to happen to Idina Menzel. While the actress and singer was already famous before Travolta’s marble mouth introduced her as “Adele Dazeem,” this completely unscripted and hilarious moment has, kinda sorta, made her a household name. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s been an uptick in interest in Menzel’s Broadway show, If/Then. The producers of the show are certainly trying to make the most of the flub, changing the Menzel’s name to Adele Dazeem on the sign outside the theater earlier this week, and editing her name inside the Playbill as well. So silly and funny. [Daily Mail UK]
And last but certainly not least, as basically flawless as all the stars looked in their gowns and baubles last night, their hair and makeup was equally as on point. I loved Kerry Washington and Margot Robbie deep wine-colored lips, Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock and Jessica Biel’s Veronica Lake-inspired side-swept waves and Olivia Wilde’s vaguely retro cat eye. This year’s Academy Awards may be over, and Leo may have gone home without a statue yet again (see #20 for a priceless reaction shot), but that doesn’t mean we can’t spend today reminiscing about how far our little Leo has come. This picture says it all, doesn’t it? And there’s more where that came from: People brilliantly Photoshopped 10 of the Oscar nominees into scenes with their younger selves. Click through to check out Meryl Streep, Jared Leto, Amy Adams and more hanging out with their pre-crazy-famous selves.
Oh hi, are you tired of Oscar fashion yet? Of course not! Vanity Fair‘s annual Oscar party is honestly more of a fashion parade than even the Academy Awards, which only a select group gets to attend, because everyone and their mom and their neighbor and their neighbor’s waxer is invited. I mean, if you didn’t get an invite, you should probably be pretty devastated. Click through to see everyone from Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon and Amy Poehler, to Diane Kruger, Miranda Kerr and Zooey Deschanel, as well as a couple of choice outfit changes from Lupita Nyong’o, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Lawrence.
Jennifer Lawrence and Lupita Nyong’o fight over Oscar! Matthew and Camilla makeout! John Travolta studies and then retains absolutely no memory of how to pronounce Idina Menzel’s name! All that and more backstage snaps from last night’s Academy Awards…
I gotta say, with the exception of Whoopi Goldberg’s weird interpretation of Julia Roberts’ Golden Globes ensemble, there was not one person at last night’s Academy Awards who made a major fashion faux pas. (See all the red carpet arrival photos here!) I could not assemble a worst dressed list if I tried. Instead, I’ll just tell you which stars left me totally slack-jawed, from Kate Hudson’s drapey, capey situation and Lupita’s powder blue Cinderella moment, to Jared Leto’s red bow tie and Angelina Jolie’s, well, everything.
