It’s official. Fall is here to stay, and the same old dance jams of this summer’s BBQs and lazy beach days feel not quite right. Fall music is music you listen to wrapped in a scarf and sipping hot chocolate, walking thru freshly raked leaves. Fall music has a little more oomph, because fall is Serious Business. You’ll need a new soundtrack for handholding, cuddling, briskly shopping, and whatever other treats fall might bring you. We want to celebrate the glory that is new fall releases, with a healthy dose of some old classics. Throw on this playlist, make a lasagna, bake some cookies, or just sit and watch the light change through the leaves. Keep reading »

We are summer girls here at The Frisky. Amelia and I love a good tan. We ALL love the beach, the long, hazy summer days that meander seamlessly into night, and the glory of throwing on a sundress and heading out into the world. These are the things about summer that we remember in the depths of winter, when it’s been snowing for an eternity and the walk from your apartment to the bodega requires sidestepping mountains of slush. Thankfully, Gaia in her infinite glory presents us with a weather option that neatly straddles the line between the soaring highs of summer and the walloping lows of winter. On the cusp of the official first day of the season, let’s celebrate some amazing things about autumn…
In today’s edition of WTF stock photos, I came across some models who are most definitely having a rough day. We think they could use a drink. Click through and join me in offering them the nice, stiff cocktail they so sorely deserve.

Lady friends are often the best — and only — friends that you need. The friendship you have with your close female friends can be the most rewarding, frustrating, hilarious and meaningful relationship you will ever have in your life, including children, pets, significant others. Chicks before dicks, always! In celebration of the importance of female friendships, we asked one of our favorite funny ladies, Gillian Jacobs, to share with us her favorite ways her girlfriends always have her back. Check it out!
Have you ever wondered what it looks like when you mix an Internet dog-turned-Tumblr-intern, artisanal cheese, flat-ironed hair, and your best girlfriends getting ready for a night on the town? I’m guessing it’s not even as awesome as this video right here, directed by Jon Jon Agustavo, the dude behind the Macklemore’s absurdly awesome “Thrift Shop” video. Interest piqued yet? Click! See that video up there? Click that little arrow. Watch Beyonce Giselle Knowles, master of the graceful recovery and mother of America’s baby Blue Ivy, as she slays my favorite new song, “Grown Woman.” I have spent a fair amount of time watching this performance, imagining the stages leading up to my inevitable rapture if I were witnessing this live. Fancy my surprise when Amelia scored us tickets to the sold-out-forever show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in a few weeks. Happy is too gentle a word for my emotional state. There was screaming. Disbelief. In anticipation of this momentous occasion, I have put together my dream setlist for this show, featuring a run-through of her solo hits, some deep cuts, and an extended section of Destiny’s Child/Jay-Z collabs, as an attempt to placate my persistent hope that she brings out an entire army of guest stars including but not limited to Jay-Z, Nori West and this kid from the YouTubes. Check it out after the jump! Keep reading »
I’m not sure where the time went, but somehow, this week marks the 18th anniversary of the release of “Clueless.” What a world! Things grow up so fast. “Clueless” is old enough to vote, to buy cigarettes and fireworks in some states — you know, the best things about adulthood! After re-watching the movie for the zillionth time, I realized that there are some nuggets of wisdom buried beneath all the makeover montages and knee socks. Here are seven pretty solid life lessons gleaned from “Clueless.”
Frisky Q&A: “Community”‘s Gillian Jacobs Loves “Dominick The Donkey” And That, My Friends, Is Absurdly Awesome
Gillian Jacobs is a truly awesome human being. When she’s not therapizing her cohorts as Britta on “Community” or killin’ it on the local comedy scene in Los Angeles, she’s taking time to answer a few of our random questions about everything from celebrity crushes to personal theme songs and more. I’ve always thought Gillian was great, but her diplomatic answer to my Blue Ivy versus North West showdown sealed the deal. Check out the full interview with her after the jump!
I love a good outtake, I really do. There’s something about seeing actors break down and be actual, real people that swear and mess up at work that makes me have just a teensy more faith in humanity. Celebs — they really are just like us! Take a peek at these outtakes from Gillian Jacobs’ Absurdly Awesome video!
I don’t know about y’all, but it’s SUMMER over here in Friskyland. It’s passed from balmy and pleasant to hot like fire and sweaty outside — my favorite time of year! Summer means barbecues, it means the beach, it means cold drinks and laughter and fireflies and watching the stars — or the lights of whatever metropolis you live in — twinkle, either from a big ol’ field in the middle of nowhere, or shoulder to shoulder on a rooftop in the dark. Lucky for you, Amelia and I put together the perfect soundtrack for all your summer nights and days. Check it out after the jump!
