Watch A Pregnant Woman Tear Some Anti-Choice Protesters A New One

Um, Be My Best Friend?

A UK anti-choice group, Abort67, had set up outside of a London abortion clinic with a giant picture of an aborted fetus and had been filming their protest — and possibly the women going into the clinic — when this woman happened upon the Abort67 protesters being asked to turn their cameras off and move down the street by a clinic employee.

The woman works for Kids Company, an organization located across the street from the clinic that works with inner-city children, some of whom have been abused and molested. She pointed out that this was the wrong place to be protesting if Abort 67 cared so much about the lives of children – the violent image of an aborted fetus is absolutely not what traumatized children need to be exposed to. “They’re meant to see this? And this is the people we work with, girls that have been abused, molested, and you’ve got this on?” She asked the protesters, pointing at the picture. Keep reading »

Will Mississippi Become The First State Without An Abortion Clinic?

Today's Lady News photo
  • On July 1, Mississippi’s only surviving abortion clinic may shut down after a new law goes into effect requiring doctors at the clinic to have admitting privileges at local hospitals. This will likely make it impossible for the clinic to continue operating because three out of four of the clinic’s doctors live out of state, in part to avoid harassment by local anti-abortion protestors. Siiiigh. But no worries: coat hanger abortions are no biggie.  [New York Times]

Most Of Virginia’s Abortion Clinics Could Close Today

Today's Lady News photo
  • Twenty of 22 abortion clinics in Virginia could close today if the state’s Board of Health votes to impose medically unnecessary restrictions on them. Specifically, the clinics would be required to adopt rules that hospitals do, such as providing as many beds as there are parking spaces in the lot. Real important, right? Clever job at restricting abortion rights, VA! [Mother Jones]

Today’s Lady News: Abortion Clinic Landlord Gets Revenge On Harassing Protestors

  • The landlord of an abortion clinic in Germantown, Maryland, is getting back at anti-abortion protesters who make harassing phone calls to him at home by taking down the phone numbers and distributing lists of them to pro-choice protesters who call these people back. According to the Washington Post, 3,000 people have volunteered to make calls, which has inspired the landlord, Todd Stave, to set a up group called Voice Of Choice to help other clinics whose employees are harassed by these extremists.  [Newser]

  • An anti-abortion group has filed a brief with Alabama’s Supreme Court urging them to test aborted fetuses for meth. The state has a “chemical endangerment of children” law which puts mothers behind bars if their liveborn babies test positive for drugs. However, if the state decides to test fetuses for meth as well, it could set a precedent for considering a fetus to be a fully-formed child. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

In what sounds like an excellent use of everyone’s time, an Ohio abortion clinic will be exorcised this upcoming Sunday. The Women’s Med Center in Ohio, is closed on Sunday, but presumably those of women’s libber demons will still be there in spirit. 40 Days Of Life, an anti-choice group that camps outside of clinics for 40 days straight in protest, plans to read a passage of the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel reading: “Seize the dragon, the ancient serpent, which is the devil and Satan, bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit, that he may no longer seduce the nations.”   Keep reading »
