Taylor Swift Released Another New Single, And It’s Not About A Dude

Taylor Swift
I <3 NYC

Taylor Swift has gifted the world with yet another single from her upcoming album, and this one is about her love of city life. She told USA Today that ”Welcome To New York” is “a really wide-eyed, optimistic approach to moving to New York, or just visiting for the first time, or stepping off the plane for the first time. My favorite thing about that song is it sounds exactly how that feeling felt to me — just joyous, hopeful optimism and endless opportunities, endless inspiration, right there in front of you.” Apparently living in Manhattan really suits her— and also, would her street style looks really be as inspired and twee if she lived in LA or Nashville? I’m not sure how I feel about the song itself, but listen for yourselves. Maybe it’s an acquired taste. Only 6 days left until the full album drops and fangirl mayhem ensues! Taylor Swift Covered Indie Hit “Riptide” And It’s Perfect

Taylor Swift Covered Indie Hit "Riptide" And It's Perfect

When it comes to Taylor, you either love or hate her. It’s easy to hate her– she reminds you how awful it felt when your not-boyfriend broke up with you, and you listened to Red on repeat for days at a time, while lying on your bedroom floor. It was a low point, and Taylor is an incessant reminder of how boys can be the actual worst… whether you’re in college or a bonafide celebrity. The truth is, no matter how you feel about her, when T. Swizzle’s on, she’s really on. Read more on College Candy…

Taylor Swift Lives My Dream Of Drowning In Kittens In This Diet Coke Commercial

Taylor Swift
Paradise, Basically

Taylor Swift is apparently Diet Coke’s new spokesgirl, and in this new commercial, she spends her afternoon surrounded by an ocean of kittens. Her own cat Olivia Benson even makes a cameo at the end, and if I’m being honest I’m totally twitching from wanting to pet all those little furballs. Meanwhile, Taylor’s other cat Meredith receives zero TV airtime and is totally getting the shaft. Sigh. It’s tough to be Mer. [Celebuzz]

Halloween Costume Inspiration: Taylor “No Its Becky” Swift

Halloween Costume Inspiration: Taylor "No Its Becky" Swift

I really kinda dig Taylor Swift. Her music is fun and sometimes, sadly, reflects my much-older dating woes, she’s smart and sassy, and she definitely has a sense of humor about her own fame. Case in point: when she wore this “No Its Becky” shirt out and about in NYC recently, a reference to an amazing Tumblr post that went viral, in which a photo of Taylor is identified as some random chick named Becky, who used to be happy and popular until she snorted marijuana at a party. And what do ya know, this moment in random pop culture memery is the perfect inspiration for any Swifty in need of a Halloween costume. Just don’t forget to bring Olivia Benson! Read on for details! Taylor Swift’s New Single Laments Unstable Relationships (And Harry Styles)

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift’s new single “Out Of The Woods” is reportedly about her relationship with Harry Styles, but it’s also about every other wishy-washy guy we’ve ever dated. She told “Good Morning America” that the relationship in this song “was a relationship where I was kind of living day to day, wondering where it was going, if it was going to go anywhere, if it was going to end the next day. It was a relationship where you, kind of, never feel like you’re standing on solid ground.” Bleakly relatable, right? She added that the song “stresses that even if a relationship is breakable and fragile and full of anxiety, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t worthwhile, exciting, beautiful, and all the things that we look for.” Well, that’s not exactly untrue. The song was co-written by Jack Antonoff and employs a drum machine instead of her usual guitar strumming, because apparently Taylor’s feeling extra adventurous these days. You can get the song on iTunes here. The full album drops on October 27! [BuzzFeed]

Here’s A Motown Cover Of “Shake It Off”

Shake It Off
The Players Gonna Play And The Haters Gonna Hate

The trusty talents in Postmodern Jukebox have just released their latest cover — a Motown rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” Somehow, they managed to make the most energetic song in the world sound even happier (especially at the 3:10 mark)! I dig it. [Tastefully Offensive]
