The Many Loves Of Oprah Winfrey

I’m sure the Big O has been bracing herself for the release of her unauthorized biography by Kitty Kelley due out today. Of course, a few people got their grubby paws on advanced copies, so the mudslinging and dirt-dishing got off to an early start. I’m thinking that Oprah must be outraged about the allegations in the book that her Aunt Katherine has accused her of lying about her sexual abuse. I’m not going to touch that one. But I will touch on the details of her relationship with John Tesh. According to the book, Tesh, pianist and former host of “Entertainment Tonight,” had a serious relationship with Oprah when they worked together in Nashville in her early 20s. They even lived together for a time before the pressures of an interracial relationship proved to be too much for him to handle and he bolted in the middle of the night. Uh oh, that’s not cute. After the jump, some other dudes (and one lady) who we think may get a chapter in the book of O. Keep reading »

What We Know About The Oprah Winfrey Network So Far

You’ve got to have a stone-cold heart to not love Shania Twain. And maybe that’s why Oprah gave the country singer her OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) show called “Why Not?” A statement from the network said, “The show will follow Twain as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures.” After her bestie snagged her husband, Twain fell in love with her bestie’s ex-husband Frédéric Thiébaud and has been traveling the world with him and her son, posting videos on her website of them sky-diving in Florida, riding camels in Egypt, and bike riding in London. I’m still reeling from her gorgeousness in the “That Don’t Impress Me Much” video, so I don’t know if I can handle my jealousy for a half-hour show. [People]

But really, I’m actually legitimately excited for Oprah’s network—sounds like there are some pretty awesome things going down. Here’s what we know so far. Keep reading »

11 Questions We Want Oprah To Ask Rielle Hunter

Oprah has scored the first on-air interview with Rielle Hunter and we’re hoping she brings out the Big O guns and doesn’t ask suuuper boring questions like reporters did at Tiger Woods’ press conference this week. And because we’re busy bodies super helpful, here are 10 questions that we’d like to see Oprah ask John Edwards‘ mistress. Keep reading »

Jessica Simpson Discusses John Mayer And That “Mom Jeans” Fiasco With Oprah

On yesterday’s episode of “Oprah,” Jessica Simpson responded for the first time to John Mayer‘s blabbermouth statement to Playboy — that she’s like crack in the sack. He, for the record, apologized to her in writing (email or text, we wonder) and she has not and doesn’t plan on accepting it. Good for her! After all the rumors about Jessica still pining away for Mayer, it’s nice to see her standing up for herself, but also seeming disinterested in his smarmy ass. Keep reading »

Roger Ebert Gets His Voice Back

In 2001, film critic Roger Ebert was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and over the years has gone through multiple surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy to battle the illness, including having a significant portion of his jaw removed. As a result, he can no longer eat or drink (he’s fed through a feeding tube) and cannot speak. A few weeks ago, Ebert was photographed and interviewed by Esquire, his familiar face having changed so much that many considered the image to be shocking. Ebert appeared on “Oprah” today with his wife of 18 years, Chaz, and the interview was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Oprah asked the legend whether he remembers what the last words he spoke were, to which Ebert replied that he didn’t because he didn’t know at the time that they would be his last words. He said he hoped, however, that his last words were “I love you” to his wife, who Oprah credited with inspiring Ebert to go on living despite his very difficult circumstances. In the clip above, Ebert and Chaz hear, for the first time, a computerized voice (Ebert “speaks” by typing into a computer which says his words out loud) that has been created to match Ebert’s own voice, before his illness resulted in his loss of speech. Now You Can Shop Oprah’s Closet

Oprah Winfrey is all about the generosity. After all, she devotes an entire episode of her talk show each year to gifting the guests with her favorite things. Now, in an effort to “de-clutter” her life, Oprah went through her entire closet, and chose 150 items to sell on eBay. But while I’ll go through my closet to raise funds for new shopping trips, Oprah has a philanthropic motive. The funds from her sale will go to her Leadership Academy of Girls, a school that she founded. So, while you’re relishing your new designer handbag which was previously owned by a media mogul, you’ll be able to feel good about your new purchase. Of the 150 items, you’ll find all of the big names — a Valentino satin evening bag, a Tahari purple silk dress coat, and even Chanel. Bid on your favorites until March 11!
