Natalie Portman, Prima Ballerina In A Rodarte Tutu

Rodarte’s Mulleavy sisters have been involved in some unfriendly press lately over their MAC cosmetics oops, but here’s something nice to offset the bad—a sneak peek at the Rodarte-designed tutus that Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis get to wear in the upcoming flick “Black Swan.” In a nutshell, the movie is a psychological thriller about two ballerinas who get involved in a weird and dark competitive relationship. Can’t tell too much else from this photo, but we’ll be interested to see how Rodarte re-imagines the classic ballet. The movie hits the Venice Film Festival September 1. [Elle] Keep reading »

Natalie Portman Gets Dumped By A Band

Who would dump Natalie Portman? I want names! Okay, actually, it’s just a band called Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head. And the video to announce their big band name change is hilarious. Hey, at least they had the decency to break up with her face-to-face. [The Daily What] Keep reading »

Crush Of The Day: Benjamin Millepied, Natalie Portman’s Ballerina Boyfriend

I kind of snickered when I learned Natalie Portman was dating New York City Ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied. (Even enlightened women like myself can fall prey to stereotypes, you know.) Now, however, the joke is on me. Benjamin is seriously hot, and I’m thinking I should expand my dating pool to include ballet dancers. Check out one more pic from his Details photoshoot after the jump. [Details] Keep reading »

Ashton Kutcher Is Ready To Slip Natalie Portman The Tongue

Don’t worry — Ashton hasn’t left Demi Moore for a younger woman. He and Natalie Portman are just filming a scene for their movie “Friends With Benefits.” Closeups of people kissing make me feel weird. [Marina del Rey, CA, 5/14/10] Keep reading »

The Oscars, Recession-Style

The Oscars are a no-expense-spared event, from the bottles of champagne to those adorable little gold trophies. Actors and actresses dress up in designer clothes (though each piece is likely borrowed), primp with hair and makeup gurus and stylists, not to mention all those limos. But this year, the recession took hold in not one, but two different ways. While many starlets choose Christian Louboutin or Manolo heels to pair with their red carpet dresses, Natalie Portman went a very different route, and actually wore shoes that everyone can afford… a pair of black satin open-toe Segura platforms from Aldo! Just imagine little Natalie strolling into her nearest Aldo store, with a picture of her dress in hand. Refreshing, isn’t it? And in a bold move, Diane Kruger decided to forgo the makeup artist cost and mastered the impressive feat of applying her very own beauty look. We have to say bravo to Diane — she looked flawless. Quotable: Natalie Portman Says She Isn’t Into Jewish Roles

“I’ve always tried to stay away from playing Jews. I get like 20 Holocaust scripts a month, but I hate the genre. That was the first thing to come my way that really intrigued me.”

Natalie Portman, on playing a Hasidic woman in love with her Indian jeweler in the stinker of a movie “New York, I Love You Keep reading »

Meet John Paul Thurlow, Magazine Cover Lover

Natalie Portman To Conquer Period Pieces And Zombies

If all of the film adaptations of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice have left your brain numb, this one may really kill you … in a good way. Natalie Portman has signed on to produce and star in the movie version of the bestselling book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, written by Seth Grahame-Smith and, uh, Jane Austen. This expanded version of the Austen classic adds a twist on the well-known love story when the outbreak of a deadly virus begins to turn townsfolk into killers. Elizabeth Bennet struggles to balance her blossoming love for Mr. Darcy with her obligation to kick some zombie butt. And who better to bring the right combination of elegance, wit, and edginess to the role of Elizabeth Bennet than Portman? She certainly has the chops to convince us to embrace this version of Elizabeth—a woman who at long last will have a proper outlet for her sense of purpose. Sure, zombies may seem like a peculiar addition to the original text, but there is something about the outbreak of the undead in 19th-century England that somehow makes the story more accessible. The idea that love can blossom in spite of treacherous, external forces is really a modern concept. Besides, who hasn’t had to slay a couple of zombies to land Mr. Right? [Variety] Keep reading »
