What We Liked And Hated About The Grammy Nominations

Last night, the Grammy Nominations Concert tried its best to distract us from “Top Chef: All-Stars” and “Celebrity Rehab 4.” It was unsuccessful, but I did DVR the special and fast forward through it this morning. LL Cool J hosted and, nestled among the nomination announcements, there were performances by Katy Perry, an oddly old-looking Justin Bieber, Miranda Lambert, and Bruno Mars. After the jump, three things that made me happy about the 2010 Grammy lineup and three things that made me sad.

Justin Bieber Whirls Hair In Opposite Direction

On Friday, Justin Bieber gave a reading from his new book, First Step 2 Forever. Not only did he look significantly older than the last time we saw him, but his hair was looking shorter and was—hyperventilating gasp—brushed in the opposite direction from normal. The voice deepening can’t be far behind. [New York, 11/26/10] Keep reading »

Kid Pulls Knife On Mom When She Won’t Let Him Trick-Or-Treat As “Gay Justin Bieber”

Yesterday, we read a heartwarming story about a mother who supported her five-year-old son’s “gay” costume choice. But a mother of a 12-year-old boy in Arizona wasn’t so understanding when her son wanted to go trick-or-treating as “gay Justin Bieber.” The mother grounded her son for his “disrespectful” costume choice. And the boy retaliated against this costume censorship by pulling a knife on his mom and threatening to kill her. That’s when the police were notified and the boy was arrested. OK, this is awful. Acknowledged. But I am still trying to figure out what a “gay Justin Bieber” costume would look like. Anyone? It must have been really intense to spark an act of extreme ‘tween disobedience. But then again, J-Biebs just seems to illicit insanity in ‘tweens. [AZ Central] Keep reading »

Justin Bieber Wants You In His “World”

Teenage heartthrob and alleged assaulter Justin Bieber has a new project in the works: perfume. Bieber’s unisex fragrance, “My World,” will be infused into wristbands and dog tags in a new patented resin technology designed to hold the scent for over a year. The scent, which will be launched at Walmart for Black Friday, is, according to Bieber, not “too young, too fruity.” And of course the 16-year-old entertainer has his eyes on the horizon. Next up? A possible sneaker collab. [WWD] Keep reading »

This Is The Only Way To Read Justin Bieber’s Memoir

Canadian actor Gordon Pinsent does an interpretive reading of Justin Bieber‘s supposedly-not-a-memoir, First Step 2 Forever: My Story. Yes, Justin, it may technically be a picture book. But it’s also a dramatic retelling of your life story, so far. So we’re gonna call a spade a spade, and we’re thrilled that you’ve joined the ranks of young stars to pen memoirs. More please, more. Justin Bieber Accused Of Hitting A 12-Year-Old During Laser Tag

Maybe Justin Bieber really does have an alter ego. For the second time in a month, the Biebs has been accused of doing something very contrary to his bubblegum-and-puppies public persona. This time, Justin is being investigated for assaulting a 12-year-old during a laser tag game on Friday night. Shawty Mane, say it ain’t so! Keep reading »

Justin Bieber Lends His Name To Walmart Nail Polish

Like Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis before him, Justin Bieber is co-branding with a line of nail polishes. The Biebs lent his name to a new line of Nicole nail polishes that will be exclusively available at Walmart beginning in December, and in stores like Target and Ulta after that. The polishes include reds, purples, blues and glittery shades and are titled after classic Bieber songs, like “Step 2 the Beat of My Heart” (pictured above) and “One Less Lonely Girl” (but it’s called One Less Lonely Glitter). Damn, when I was a hormonal Hanson fan they never did anything like this! Someone out there in Corporate America believes tween girls will buy anything Bieber-related … and the sad thing is, they’re probably right. [NYMag.com] Keep reading »
