Hump Day Hottie: Gael Garcia Bernal

Hottie: Jon Bernthal
He may be walking dead, but he's alive in our hearts! Read More »

Gael Garcia Bernal first came to our attention in the 2000 Mexican flick “Amores Perros,” but he really won us over with the fearlessly sexy 2001 film “Y Tu Mamá También.” Since then, the diminutive (saw him in person once, the tiniest) Guadalajara native has thrilled both Spanish- and English-language audiences. His latest, “No,” is a Spanish-language political thriller about a populist campaign to take down Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. Bernal stars as René Saavedra, a young upstart of an advertising executive who’s tasked with creating a public campaign that will mobilize Chile’s citizens to vote Pinochet out. It’s based on a true story, is up for an Oscar, and looks really good.

You know what else looks really good? Gael Garcia Bernal.

Michelle Williams Continues Her Depressing-But-Good Movie Streak

Since hitting the big time with her “Dawson’s Creek” character Jen Lindley, Michelle Williams has gone on to make mostly independent films. Besides “Brokeback Mountain,” a lot of her movies haven’t landed in theaters — at least not in wide release — and I’ve Netflixed a few of them recently. Right now, I’m halfway through “Wendy and Lucy,” about a young woman who lives out of her car with her dog, and I have to watch it in parts so I don’t get too down. It’s great, but depressing as hell. I think I might have the same reaction to her and Gael Garcia Bernal’s upcoming film, “Mammoth,” which comes to theaters Nov. 20. The movie tells the story of a young family that seems to have it all, until a series of events change their lives. Do you like movies that show the sad side of life? Or do you stick to comedies and lighter films? Keep reading »

Star Couplings: Lindsay Lohan Says Ali Did Not Have A Boob Job

  • Us Weekly finally noticed what we pointed out two weeks ago — did Ali Lohan get a boob job? Then Lindsay Lohan responded on her MySpace blog saying, “…my mother taught us to appreciate what we have been given. Nor would she ever encourage, or allow a 14-year old child to alter her body. I am not judging people that do, but I am just saying that it’s not something that my family finds necessary to do, especially when you’re not even fully developed yet!” So…no? [DListed]

The Daily (Double-Dose Of) Hotness: Gael Garcia Bernal & Diego Luna

Happy Cinco De Mayo! I can’t wait to go home and make a margarita, try my hand at this bean dip recipe I’ve been curious about, and then sit down to watch Y Tu Mama Tambien. Actually, I probably won’t, because Cinco De Mayo is really about margarita-drinking-togetherness, but to give myself, and you, a taste, here are the film’s stars, Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, in all their glory. Incidentally, both of them are about to be daddies. Felicitaciones! Keep reading »

Match.com Ads Are Kind Of Inspiring

You might be thinking, ads for online dating websites are really lame, but the ones from Match.com’s new campaign, “Rewind,” have been airing for about two months and they’re so sweet! We’re totally smitten with this couple — the guy looks kind of like Gael Garcia Bernal — and they make us want to sign up. If only everyone doing online dating was this attractive! Also, while searching for the above video, we came across two funny Match.com ads from the U.K., and one from the U.S., after the jump. [YouTube] Keep reading »
