– Elin Nordgren on the end of the her marriage to Tiger Woods, after his repeated infidelities came to light, to People. Nordegren also said that she’s “been through hell,” experienced hair loss and insomnia as a result of all of the scrutiny, and insisted that there was never any violence in her relationship with Woods. Rumors that she went after him with a golf club the night he crashed his SUV into a tree are “truly ridiculous.” She also told the magazine that she and Woods “tried for months” to reconcile and repair their marriage, but that an absence of “trust and love … was good for no one.” Nordegren says that her interview with People will be her first and last on the subject of her marriage and divorce. Little skittish and scared Tiger Woods addressed the media for the first time since his cheating scandal broke last fall, at a golf club in Florida today, announcing, “Every one of you has a good reason to be critical of me.” The golfer continued:

“I want to say to each of you … I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior I engaged in. I know people want to find out how I could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife Elin [Nordegren] and to my children. And while I have always tried to be a private person, there are some things I want to say. Elin and I have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior. As Elin pointed out to me, my real apology will not come in the form of words. It will come from my behavior over time. … [But] what we say to each other will remain between the two of us.”
