Uh, There’s An Anna Nicole Smith Opera

Described as a cross between “comedy” and “heart-wrenching horror,” a new opera, “Anna Nicole,” opened in London last night. It’s about Anna Nicole Smith exploring her choices as a single mother until she runs out of options. With lyrics like “I want to blow you all” and “It’s the sound of a Jimmy Choo shoe on a red carpet” how could it not be a crowd pleaser? “Raunchy,” “convincing,” and “absolutely incredible” were some of the adjectives used by audience members to describe their “Anna Nicole” experience. How do I get tickets? [The Hairpin] Keep reading »

Get Your Tickets To “Anna Nicole Smith: The Opera” Now, People

Anna Nicole Smith died ignobly, but perhaps an opera at the Royal Opera House in London will redeem her. Nah, probably not. “Anna Nicole,” which is not so much an ode to the woman born Vickie Lynn Hogan but a musical rendering of her tragic life, will play February 17 to March 4. The buxom billionaire’s widow will be played by Eva-Maria Westbroe, a Dutch soprano who has also performed in operas by Puccini and Verdi. Supposedly, the opera will be a capital-I Intellectual analysis of Anna’s scheming, wanton lifestyle, drug abuse and binge eating. And it will be a classy affair, let me tell you: The libretto was written by the same guy who wrote “Jerry Springer: The Opera” and a brochure for the show warns the faint of heart of “extreme language, drug abuse and sexual content.” For an opera based on Anna Nicole Smith’s life, I would expect nothing less. Anna Nicole Smith Look-Alikes Wanted For New Reality Show

There’s only one look that works for clothes by Frank Rodriguez, Anna Nicole Smith‘s personal designer: buxom and blond. But since Anna Nicole is dead, Rodriguez is heading to TV land for the next best thing. He’s searching for an Anna Nicole look-alike to fill his pink, bedazzled dresses. The reality show competition will be shot documentary-style and castings will happen next week in L.A., according to producers. Judging from Anna Nicole’s fashion choices before her death, it does take a special woman to carry off his designs. But it also seems Rodriguez, who was often featured on “The Anna Nicole Show,” wants to get his mug on the tube again. And airtime is the only incentive for the would-be look-alikes because there’s no cash prize for the winner. She/he might not even be paid for the modeling work. I can’t be the only one who thinks it’s extremely creepy to not only associate your business with your dead friend, but then also to search out someone who looks like that friend in order to make money. Anna Nicole’s Life Gives The Opera Reason To Sing

Anna Nicole Smith will be remembered for many things: her buxom body, obsession with the color pink, whiny baby voice, and, of course, marriage to oil tycoon Howard Marshall. Never did we think Anna Nicole would be associated with opera. The same guy who helped bring “Jerry Springer: The Opera” to the stage, Richard Thomas, has written a new opera about Anna Nicole. Mark-Anthony Turnage composed it and opera director Richard Jones will stage the production. The libretto will end with Anna Nicole’s death, so it won’t focus on all the drama that followed regarding daughter Dannielynn’s custody. [Reuters] Keep reading »

Anna Nicole Smith And Other Celebs Contacted During Seances

What’s the best way to get in touch with the celeb for whose death you are about to stand trial for? Why … by séance, natch. One of the guests of honor at a séance to mark the three-year anniversary of Anna Nicole Smith’s death was Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, Anna’s psychiatrist and neighbor. Eroshevich is set to stand trial on drug conspiracy charges, along with Anna’s boyfriend Howard K. Stern and physician Sandeep Kapoor. Psychic Shayne Goldfarb led the séance in Los Angeles. But did Anna show up? Her long-time friend Patrik Simpson claims she did. The psychic reported that Anna came through loud and clear, happily reporting from the other side, “She’s with [her son] Daniel. She’s sad she had to leave her daughter, but she really had to be with Daniel.” OK … if they say so! [People]

Why Is Dina Lohan Channeling Anna Nicole?

When I saw this photo, I did a double take. I thought Anna Nicole was dead! The outfit, hair, and accessories Dina Lohan sported on her way to court, where she was facing her ex, Michael, over child support payment issues is way similar to what Smith wore to court in 2006. Creepy! Facebook’s Doppelganger Week is over, yo. Keep reading »

  • The International Glove Association fears for the future of mittens. Apparently, as people become obese, they store more heat and the extra comes out through the extremities, heating the hands. The FBI Investigated Anna Nicole Smith For Murder-For-Hire

Anna Nicole Smith was a lot of things, but she wasn’t, as far as the FBI is concerned, a murderer. It was recently divulged that, beginning in 2000, the FBI started investigating Smith after they kept hearing word that she was trying to off her dead husband’s son, E. Pierce Marshall. The two were in a drawn-out legal battle over the dead dude’s estate, which was worth about $550 million in 1992. Smith’s hubby was 89 when they got married and she was 26. He died about a year after the wedding. Sketchy, yes, but in the end, the FBI decided there was “insufficient evidence” against Anna. But they did find out a few head-scratching things … Keep reading »

Howard K. Stern Gets Green Light To Sue Author of Anna Nicole Tell-All

Remember when journalist Rita Cosby’s tell-all, Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith‘s Death, hit shelves only two months after the buxom blonde’s death? Cosby alleged that Howard K. Stern, Smith’s former paramour, had an intimate affair with Larry Birkhead, Smith’s ex. Yesterday, a judge ruled that Stern could move forward with a defamation lawsuit. However, only 11 out of the 19 libelous statements made by Cosby hold weight, ruled Judge Denny Chin. The judge said the references to alleged homosexuality were not inherently defamatory: “I respectfully disagree that the existence of this continued prejudice leads to the conclusion that there is a widespread view of gays and lesbians as contemptible and disgraceful.” [E!
