10 Thoughts After Seeing Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland”

I heart twisted Tim Burton movies: “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” “Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “Ed Wood,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” … I’m just reading off my DVD shelf here. So there was no way I was going to wait one more minute to see his interpretation of “Alice In Wonderland.” I did my nails Burton-style and was at the first showing at midnight last night/this morning and let me tell you, despite all the hype, I was not disappointed! You should totes ignore the negative reviews and see it in 3-D for yourself … I still can’t believe Disney let him make this movie! Here are 10 things I was thinking after seeing the flick. “I personally find it especially flattering that he tends to deform me in every movie. But my mother and everyone ask me, ‘What is it with you and him?’ But that’s the point of acting isn’t it? It’s all dress-up.”

New “Alice In Wonderland” Clips Leave Us … Confused

T-minus one week until Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” opens in theaters, and several new clips are making their rounds on the interwebs today. And I gotta admit that while I was once psyched about the 3D IMax trip-fest, the clips just seem a little … snoozy. Above, see the White Queen (otherwise known as Anne Hathaway) make Alice a magic potion and, after the jump, see Alice meet the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) for the first time. What do you think? Will you be lined up to see this flick opening night, or will you be boycotting and clinging to your DVD of the animated 1951 version? Keep reading »

Yes, More “Alice in Wonderland” Jewels

“Alice in Wonderland” has already spawned a nail polish line and jewelry designed by Tom Binns and Stella McCartney, but now the movie has inspired Swarovski-encrusted items as well. Disney worked with the crystal brand to create four different pieces — two necklaces and two rings — which incorporate the Queen of Heart’s symbol and the Cheshire Cat. Personally, if I were going to buy Swarovski, this wouldn’t be my chosen purchase. But for hardcore fans of the film, these seem like ideal collectibles. Still to come are two more items: a stopwatch and the rose gold sparrow necklace worn by Alice. [Racked] Keep reading »
