Remember Andrew Keegan from “10 Things I Hate About You”? So cute, right? Well, now he’s cute and the leader of his own spiritual religious movement called Full Circle. According to a story in Vice, Keegan operates Full Circle out of a building in Venice Beach, CA, drawing in followers who want to get involved with the movement’s “advanced spiritualism,” according to one member of Full Circle’s “inner circle” (a circle within a circle?). Over the weekend, I went to a brunch screening of the John Cusack classic “Better Off Dead.” I’ve seen it about a zillion times before — isn’t it the best? — but I’d forgotten about the New Year’s Eve dance scene. In it, Cusack and pals go to a school dance where E.G. Daily sings the titular song. E.G. Daily, you might recall, is also in the movie “Valley Girl,” and is just the best. “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwick has a new angst-ridden project in the works: a remake of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Emile Hirsch is the tasty choice picked to play the passionate Prince. We can’t wait to see him strut and fret in ye old tight pants. While we’d happily watch the grass grow if irresistible Emile were lying in it, it’s a total bonus that this just happens to be one of our favorite sub genres—a twisted teen take on a Shakesperean classic. Since there’s nothing like a hunk who wants to school us in the ways of love, here are other modern blockbusters that have helped us avoid actually reading Shakespeare.
