How To Go Bleach Blonde (When Everyone Tells You Not To)

Do blondes have more fun? Perhaps. There’s only one way to find out. Yet, most of the time, people will talk you out of a drastic, bleach blonde look. Screw them. If Taylor Momsen can do it, so can you. Here, tips from Julie Dickson, an expert in achieving light hues and owner of the fabulous Fox and Boy Salon in New York City. Keep reading »

Oh Hell No: Denim Tube Tops For Men!

Oh, Jean-Paul Gautier, you never cease to entertain. At his Spring 2010 menswear show the designer has a few of his male models strut down the runway in denim tube tops. While I don’t think this is a trend that will trickle down to the masses, will fashion-obsessed celebs like Kanye West embrace it? Guess we’ll see… [Men.Style.com] Keep reading »

Christian Siriano For Payless 2.0

So, is it fierce enough for you?  Christian Siriano of “Project Runway” fame is continuing his collaboration with Payless Shoes. If you remember, the budget shoe company sponsored Siriano’s spike studded footwear for his fashion show during New York Fashion Week back in February. His runway shoes have inspired his Fall 2009 collection for Payless which will be in stores this August and retail between $30 and $50. Egyptian hieroglyphics are a strong inspiration for the collection which will feature metallic fabrics, chain metal details, and teals and turquoise tones reminiscent of the Nile. Like the designer himself, the shoes sound a bit dramatic — but I think they are actually cute. This teal “Slither” bootie is one of several styles in the range and will retail for $49.99. What do you think? Ferosh or hot tranny mess? Keep reading »

Advice For The Vertically Challenged

Why is it that the one thing you really dislike about your body is always the one thing you can’t do anything about? I have sort of accepted my short legs, or, rather, I have kinda accepted the fact that they are short and sparing a minor miracle, that’s not going to change. Standing somewhat proudly at five feet five inches I fall into the boring average-short category. To my surprise, however, people tend to think I am tall. Maybe it’s the heels, but I think it’s got more to do with attitude and unswerving conviction that I am a tall person trapped in a short persons body. I’ll eventually get over the dark despair in my heart over my inability to try out for America’s Next Top Model, but in the meantime… Keep reading »

Crave: A Dapper American Apparel Bow Tie

This bow tie pays homage to the teddy bear we’ve had since we were 7, but if anyone asks, we’d just say that we’re taking fashion cues from Andre 3000 or Tucker Carlson. But really, how cute would a seersucker bow tie look on a Wall Street girly-girl outfit like a button down shirt, a pair of tight jeans and a hot blazer? [$19, American Apparel] Keep reading »

Gap Introduces “Athleta” Line

Finding cute workout clothes can be a challenge, especially when you don’t want to shell out for those designer Stella McCreditcardmaxout lines. New from the Gap Group: Athleta, a line of workout clothing for women that’s affordable and attractive. We’re not going to say the styles are to-die-for, but it’s worth checking out. You can shop by sport, which doesn’t just include your basic yogawear and running gear, but also covers ski/snowboarding, golf, and hiking. In the mix you’ll find bra-tanks in punchy colors, skirt-capris, patterned performance swimsuits that are the anti-Speedo, and nylon tennis dresses. Bod Mod Trend: The Bagelheads

Bagelheads isn’t a slang term for my people, the Jews, it’s actually a bizarre new beauty trend in Japan. The country that brought you the husband hunting bra and nose stretcher has now spawned a new body modification trend that looks straight out of a delicatessen.

Oh. Hey. Your Accessories Are Freaking Me Out

Wow. These accessories are weird. Central St. Martins design student Anna Schwamborn has created a line of “mourning objects” jewelry that is intended to help grieving survivors after a loved one passes. What’s a fashionista to do in the wake of a death? Why, make jewelry out of the deceased, of course! Shudder. Schwamborn’s awesome resume — she’s worked with Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood — certainly helped her on the path to out-there designs. In this case, the London-based designer uses the hair and cremains of the dearly departed to fashion human-based wearable art. The human ashes are combined with black bone china to make the harder parts of what she calls “post-mortem memorial pieces.” So, um, why would you want to wear bits of a dead someone? “The objects are supposed to be worn close to the body of the mourner,” says Schwamborn, “symbolizing a lasting physical connection between two individuals even after death.” The pieces include a necklace, a rosary, and, fittingly, a “tear catcher.” [Dezeen] Keep reading »

Fashion Videos From Funny To Creepy

Yves Saint Laurent just released its Spring 2010 men’s video and the star is not so much an Adonis-like fellow complete with lovely face and six pack abs as it is, well, an 11 year old boy. But after you get over the initial shock and displeasure about the fact that you were turned on in advance and the grade schooler’s appearance made you feel kind of dirty, you’ll start to like the quirky little video. The kid is son of the director, Samuel Benchetrit, and the good ‘ol fashioned hijinks he gets up to at The Bristol Hotel after finding a key on the street are worth a brief at-work giggle. From writing on mirrors with ketchup to watching a bit of hotel TV porn and convincing Melinde, apparently the lover of the rightful renter of the hotel room, to fly to Paris, the little one gets stuff done. [The Cut]

Check out some more fashion videos after the jump, but keep in mind that they aren’t all this endearing… Keep reading »
