The (Real) Virtual Makeover Is Here!

Earlier this month we reported on Ray-Ban’s new virtual mirror, a program that allows you to see how sunglasses will actually look on you before you order them online. Now The Daily Makeover has announced a revolutionary antidote to being attacked by rabid perfume sprayers at your local department store: virtual makeup application. But will it replace the real-life makeup counter once and for all? [Tech Crunch] Keep reading »

Yoko Ono To Give Piece A Chance

Now that Beth Ditto is designing a plus-size line and schilling for Chanel, has fashion found a new obsession? New York hipster designers ThreeAsFour are collaborating with one very special lady for their spring 2010 collection: Yoko Ono. While details on the September 17th presentation are still vague, editors and stylists are already atwitter with the news that Ono, who created exclusive prints for the line, might perform tracks from her much-anticipated upcoming album, “Between My Head and the Sky,” at the show. Either way, between ThreeAsFour’s predilection for experimental installations (during their fall show, models tended bonsai trees) and Ono’s “interesting” taste (she spent the earlier part of this year judging an interactive haiku competition and staging an exhibition of John Lennon’s final bloodied clothing), this could end up being THE event of New York Fashion Week. (Or one of them anyway.) Stay tuned… Keep reading »

People Are Freaking Out About Christopher Kane’s Topshop Line

Now that Topshop is fully and very securely entrenched in the American fashion scene, we get to be endlessly entertained by the also seemingly endless announcements of collaborations à la H&M and Target. Fashion types are obsessed with Scottish designer Christopher Kane–he’s always the toast of London Fashion Week and you may recognize his famous gorilla shirts. So, naturally when his Topshop collection was announced, the collective jaw dropped. Eh, it’s still not here yet (next month ladies, next month!), but images have finally surfaced and, like I said, the people who care are generally buzzing. And we’re excited too, but wary of actually being able to score this cobalt dress, chic granny panties or black studded leggings, since his spring/summer 2009 collection completely sold out in a matter of hours when it launched on Net-A-Porter. And those clothes were WAY more expensive. [BlackBook] Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: Guerlain’s Gorge New Fall Makeup Line

We’re loving Guerlain’s fall/winter makeup line for its beautiful packaging and and soft pink and purple hues. Called “beauté slave,” the compacts feature prints inspired by fabrics worn by Russian princesses (um, we’re guessing “slave” is a play on “Slavic”). It’s a unique turn for the French makeup company, which is usually more traditional, and starring Russian beauty Natalia Vodianova as their cover girl is apt, considering she’s kind of a real-life rags-to-riches “princess.” We’ll be watching to see if sugar plum hues catch on for winter. We hope so — they kinda work, no? [StyleFrizz.com] Keep reading »

“Miss Anorexic” Tee Available In Large And XL

Is a “Miss Anorexic” T-shirt for juniors any less tasteless because it’s only available in sizes large and extra large? Ummmm, no. We’re not sure if extra small, small, and medium sold out, or if the manufacturers of the Little Losers T-shirts only made “Miss Anorexic” tees in the largest sizes on purpose. But who cares, ’cause joking about an eating disorder is lame.

Other shirts on TeeShirtsRock.com are slightly less tasteless. Perhaps you have a “Miss Bitch,” “Miss Boobjob,” or “Miss Slut” in your life? Mother’s Day gift, ladies! Keep reading »

Tried & Tested: The Best Cotton Tee On The Market

Jeans always get front and center when it comes to icons of American style. But everyone knows the silent star is really the T-shirt. Where would James Dean, Marlon Brando, or Michael Jackson have been without the super simple, super sexy white t-shirt? There are several elements that elevate the standard tee: color, graphics, fit and, most importantly, fabric. The latter is what makes Market tees so amazing. The recently debuted line believes in simplicity. So they limit their collection to a variety of plain, cotton t-shirts that still manage to be infinitely comfortable and sexy. Drew Barrymore, Blake Lively and Lindsay Lohan have all been snapped while wearing them. What drives them to the brand is what will make you fall in love, too: buttery fabrics, rainbow colors, and the perfect fit. We got to test-run these tees and got more compliments than we can count. They’re perfect paired with jeans and sneakers or a chic mini-skirt and heels — and the prices are equally attractive at $24 to $35. Check out their latest styles and colors and find out where to buy online. Keep reading »

Claire Danes Revamps For BlackBook September Cover

Here’s a peek at Claire Danes’ risqué cover for September’s BlackBook. Not since “Romeo and Juliet” have we been this impressed with Danes. She’ll always be thought of as the innocent and innocuous type thanks to growing up as the star of “My So-Called Life.” Maybe she wanted to do something a bit more sexy and dangerous, considering she’s about to give up single life with her marriage to Hugh Dancy next month. So for once, Claire Danes plays the bitch in a super-hot photo shoot featuring dominatrix-like boots and jackets as well as busty blazers. The best shot: Danes in bold fishnets overlooking the Manhattan landscape. Check out a few more images after the jump! [BlackBook] Keep reading »

Glamour’s Plus-Sized Model Visits “Today”

Glamour has received loads of praise after publishing a photo in their September issue of plus-sized model, Lizzie Miller. Lizzie, along with Glamour‘s editor-in-chief, Cindi Lieve, was on “Today” this morning to talk about the positive response to the photo — which shows Miller naked, with un-airbrushed stomach pudge — and Lieve vowed that her magazine would be including more models like Miller in the future. Sounds amazing, but we’ll believe it when we see it! Keep reading »
