Quick Pic: Let’s “Pop In” Jerry Seinfeld’s Apartment, Shall We?

The sort-of-not-really “Seinfeld” reunion (AKA the “Seinfeld” peeps got together to resurrect their old sets and yuk it up for “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) called for a few 2009 upgrades to Jerry’s apartment—granite countertops, flat screen TV, side-by-side door refridge. Kinda weird seeing it that way, right? [Joy Hog!] Keep reading »

The Hairspray That Makes Professionals All Giddy

We already told you about the official cocktail of Fashion Week, but here’s a little insider info on the unofficial behind-the-scenes hair product: L’Oreal‘s Elnett hairspray. Up until last year, the cult product was only available in Europe — hairdressers the world over would literally stock up on cases of the stuff and send it back home, which we’re pretty sure is a customs nightmare, but anyway. Why are they so dang obsessed with it? Even though it boasts runway-strong hold (think of some of the crazy ‘dos we’ve seen come down the catwalk), it leaves hair feeling soft and looking glossy, and you can totally brush it out and start all over again if you mess up somehow. You may have noticed that backstage most of the hairdressers are sponsored; so they kind of have to stick to using the products they’re given. But we totally spotted some cheater cheater pumpkin eaters busting the Elnett on the DL. Best of all, it’s now much easier to get in on the action. At $15 (here at Target), it’s not cheap, but then again, it beats the cost of a round trip to Paris. Keep reading »

Designer Will Make Bag Out Of Your Ex’s Jeans

They say ya gotta have a gimmick, and eco-designer Patricia Ordonez certainly has one down: Send her two pair of your ex’s jeans and she will craft them (along with burlap and broadcloth) into a custom-made tote bag ($90) or duffel ($125). Kind of funny, but we’re not sure we’d want to advertise all of that baggage. Would you? [Patty O Designs] Keep reading »

Quick Pic: Paula Deen Goes Lady Gaga

Paula Deen, the Comfort Food Queen, has cooked up an outfit even fresher than Lady Gaga‘s to shoot a segment of her show. Yeah girl, rock that skirt/giant apple slicer! [New York City, 9/18/09] Keep reading »

Hair Model Citizen: Kelly Rowland

We award Kelly Rowland (seen here in the tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week) the Hair Model Citizen Award for keeping it nice and simple by sporting soft, natural-looking (though we know that always takes work) hair. To get a similar look, apply Curls’ Curl Gel-les’c to wet hair, create a thick braid, allow to air dry and take it out. [New York, 9/18/09] Keep reading »

You Gotta Watch This Totally Psycho Christian Louboutin Video

God we love the odd fashion video. Usually, they’re pretty artsy and avant-garde, but somehow we missed the video that everyone’s favorite shoe designer made for the opening of his new Rodeo Drive store earlier this month. It’s a pretty straightforward (not to mention totally entertaining) take on Hitchcock’s “Psycho,” ahem, until it turns into something totally unexpected involving singer Mika. And we don’t wanna ruin anything, but you already may have guessed the murder weapon in this version. [Chic Report] Keep reading »

Quick Pic: Isaac Mizrahi Is In A Super! Model! Sandwich!

There were plenty of celebrities (Kathy Griffin was all up on it) and gorgeous Amazonian girls backstage at Isaac’s show, but this was the only sandwich anyone touched. For those not invited to the event itself, Mizrahi live-streamed the show on his site. What a sweetie. [New York, 09/18/09] Keep reading »

DIY Soccer Balls From Condoms?

Out of all the DIY projects in the world, condoms seem like the least likely objects you’d be able to make something from. Except for maybe animal balloons. Or babies, in the case that it breaks. Anyhow, here, a video from Football Made in Africa (a project intended to show the grassroots sports culture) shows a dude making a fairly legit-looking soccer ball by first blowing up the condom, then covering it in layers and layers of twine and string. Pretty cool how far some creative thinking will take you. [YouTube] Keep reading »

Do Heels And Boyfriend Jeans Ever Look Fantastic?

It was “Grapes of Wrath” meets “Simply Ballroom” at Ralph Lauren, where Depression-era coveralls and distressed boyfriend jeans were paired with shiny, strappy heels. (Although the closing act — a metallic overalls-inspired dress — took the theme waaaay too far.) Not sure how we feel about the whole dainty shoes and baggy jeans look — the proportions always end up looking weird in real life, no? Then again, we’re totally inspired by the pageboy caps and blazers and dressing in drag in general. But screw waiting for next spring. We’re pretty sure we can put something similar together at the local thrift store. Keep reading »
