Tasty Tru Blood Beverage Coming To An Icebox Near You!

Last night, while I was watching “True Blood,” John Devore—who came over for dinner—remarked, “They really need to market the ‘Tru Blood’ synthetic blood beverage in real life.” Hm. That would be cool. After all, when promoting the first season, HBO had a series of ads that focused on the beverage, which is beloved by mainstreaming vamps who have “come out of the coffin” and no longer feed on humans.

So what do ya know? It was revealed at a “True Blood” panel at Comic-Con that HBO will be marketing a tasty “Tru Blood” beverage in the near future. Sadly, red wine is not what they have in mind. Instead, “Tru Blood” will be a “tasty blood orange soda.” Sounds like the perfect mixer to me! [YouTube]

“True Blood” Recap: Bill Compton Shows His Animalistic Side

On last night’s episode of “True Blood,” we finally got to see another side to Bill Compton, which had been hinted at, but never seen. Bill had always told Sookie that he wasn’t always such a gentile vampire, eager to mainstream. In a flashback scene that takes place in the ‘20s, Bill and his maker/lover, Lorena, pretend to be French (hilarious!), Bill sings and plays the piano (even more hilarious!), glamor a couple into having a foursome with them, and then feed on the hapless lovers before screwing on a bed covered in blood. HAWT.

Why Is Stephen Moyer’s Ex On The “True Blood” Beat?

Why Is Stephen Moyers' Ex On The True Blood Beat?

Yesterday The New York Post ran a profile on Stephen Moyer, who plays vampire Bill Compton on “True Blood.” According to Defamer, the paper failed to note that the interviewer, Lorien Haynes, is, uh, Moyer’s ex-girlfriend and baby mama. In a recent issue of Star, Haynes was revealed as Moyer’s ex and mother to his daughter Lilac in a piece titled, “‘True Blood’s Secret Love Triangle.” It quotes Moyer saying of their breakup, “Nobody has left anybody for anybody else.” Considering Moyer and his co-star Anna Paquin have made no attempt to hide the fact that sparks flew the moment they met on set, who knows how true that statement really is.

So while it’s majorly odd that Haynes profiled her ex for a story—and didn’t mention their relationship—it’s even weirder that she also interviewed Paquin for a story which ran in the Daily Mail U.K. yesterday as well. Seriously, why is Haynes on the permanent “True Blood” beat? Isn’t this a conflict of interest and also a wee bit psycho? [Defamer]

“True Blood” Recap: Jason Is Rewarded

On last night’s episode of “True Blood,” Lafayette returned to the grill at Merlotte’s, Sam and Daphne bonded over being shapeshifters (though we still don’t anything about its connection to her big scar), and Mary Ann moved into Tara and Sookie’s house because that big ol’ mansion she was living in? Not hers. Meanwhile, in Dallas, we found out why Eric is so concerned about finding Godrick—it turns out, Godrick is his maker! Also, Godrick is totally the world’s first twink. Sookie decided she’d have to infiltrate the Fellowship Of The Sun to find out if they’ve got Godrick, but little does she know that Jason is one of them now. In fact, Jason is in so deep, he got a handy from Sarah, the preacher’s wife, in the bathtub as a reward for being such a devoted soldier of God! Clip above.

“True Blood” And Other Shows We Can’t Believe Didn’t Get Emmy Nods

True Blood

Mulling over the list of the 2009 Emmy Nominations released earlier today, I felt pretty good—Tina Fey and “30 Rock” pulled in 22 nominations, and “Mad Men” reeled in 16. “Lost,” “Flight of the Conchords,” “Weeds, “How I Met Your Mother”—they were all there. But I was flabbergasted to find that my beloved “True Blood” was nowhere to be found. I thought for sure this had to be a typo, but upon further inspection, I noticed a few other glaring omissions. After the jump, the categories we wish the Emmy folks would add so that all of our favorites walk out of the awards ceremony with a statue.

What Makes Vampire Sex So Hot?

What Makes Vampire Sex So Hot?

It’s been, let’s see, almost three months since I’ve gotten laid. I’ve done a little making out, but in general, most of my sexual satisfaction these days is from watching “True Blood” every Sunday on HBO. It’s been a big year for vampires, but an even bigger one for vampire sex, which has got everyone from teenagers and Midwestern moms, to geek fan boys and, um, twentysomething bloggers obsessed with how they have it (“True Blood”) and how they resist having it (in “Twilight”). In both of these examples, the human is female and the vampire is male. That’s given some the idea that the vampire sex is bad for women because it fetishizes the meshing of sex, violence, and romance. To that I say, whatevs. If this fantasy is bad for women, well, then it’s good for me.

“True Blood” Recap In Eight Memorable Moments

Last’s night episode of “True Blood” was incredible, over-the-top, and possibly the best of the season, even without any Sookie/Bill sexy time. My eight favorite moments, after the jump.

Women In Their 40s Dominate Television

Weeds and Nurse Jackie Posters

Tonight is ladies night! And I don’t mean I’m going out with my gal pals. On Monday nights, I park my booty in front of the boob tube for the back-to-back girl power duo that is Showtime’s “Weeds” and “Nurse Jackie.” Stars Mary-Louise Parker and Edie Falco have got two of the hottest shows on TV, and their careers have just been getting better, against all odds, since they turned 40. Not to mention, their characters get laid more than just about any twentysomething I know. In fact, lately it seems like TV is dominated by women who would have previously been considered over-the-hill for the industry. Pfft, as if! So, in homage to the actresses that are so talented that showbiz is banking on them, here are the ladies of and in their prime time!

Crave: Steven Shein Fangs Necklace

Steven Shein Fangs Necklace

Keep this hush-hush. A few years ago, we wanted grillz. Not overly iced-out ones, but some fear-evoking metal fangs to go against our girly-girl exterior. We came to our senses, though, realizing that grillz would be one fashion faux pas we’d never be able to live down. But we recently found this Fangs Necklace, and not only does it satisfy our grillz fascination, but it also makes us feel a little like Sookie Stackhouse in “True Blood”—you know, because she doesn’t have fangs of her own. “True Blood” Recap: Eric’s Makeover, Sookie’s Bull-Headed Attacker, & Jessica’s Romance

True Blood Recap

Last night’s episode of “True Blood” was fantastic—we finally found out whether or not Lafayette had been turned into a vampire, Sookie was attacked by some weird creature that left her with gnarly claw marks down her back, and a romance blossomed between new vampire Jessica and adorable local gentleman, Hoyt. Mary Anne also had another icky orgy party, we got to see Tara’s new boyfriend’s rockin’ abs, and we fully began to appreciate Eric the Vampire’s David Beckham-esque makeover. Even though there weren’t any Sookie/Bill sex scenes, this was still the best episode of Season 2. More gushing, and some questions, after the jump…

Nerd Girl Porn: Sexy Vampires

Stephen Moyer and Robert Pattinson in character

Stephen Moyer, aka hot vampire Bill Compton on “True Blood,” took a bite outta teeny bopper Robert Pattinson, aka Edward Cullen in “Twilight.” In the June issue of Marie Claire, Stephen said of his fellow vamp-tor, “He’s a p***y! He’s the Slim-Fast, Diet Coke of vampires.” Oh, boys will be boys! But talk is cheap. We’d rather see them fight with some sweet vampire-on-vampire action! That would be H-O-T. Feast your eyes on these sexy actors who have played blood-sucking studs we’d kill for the chance to fang bang.

Is The Real Life Romance On “True Blood” Too Hot For TV?

True Blood Season Two Episode One

Last night, the second season of “True Blood” premiered and I could not have been more excited. I find it to be one of the sexiest shows on television, a true guilty pleasure, and the over-the-top acting and ridiculous plot lines make it even more sinfully delicious. And the center of the show are the characters of Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Bill Compton, portrayed by real life couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. The two met and fell in love on the set, a fact which has injected a real, tangible heat to many of their scenes. For some this is not entirely enjoyable.

The Boob Tube: The Return Of “True Blood,” Plus Everything Else On TV This Weekend

The Return Of True Blood

“True Blood” is finally back, y’all and I have to say it’s been a looong six months. I re-watched most of season one recently, which didn’t help my desire to see my favorite vampire and waitress steam up the small screen. So I decided to read the first Sookie Stackhouse novel Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, but that didn’t help either. I feel sorry for anyone who is a fan of this show, but hasn’t read the books because they’re much more sexual and Bill Compton is more carnal. If you thought the f**k fest in the dirt from season one was stimulating, you haven’t read anything yet. Sookie and Bill have way more sex scenes in the novels, and when I read Bill saying, “May I enter you?” and the time when they climaxed together when he bit her…Woo! I thought I was right there. (And yes, both of my hands are on my keyboard.) My sex life is virtually non-existent right now. So I figure I can read the novels during the week to hold me over until Sunday when new “True Blood” episodes air on HBO at 9 pm. And for those of you that haven’t watched or read about Sookie and Bill’s relationship, please realize it’s not all about sex, but is a great story too.

Oh yeah, and check out this weekend’s TV schedule after the jump.

Quick Pic: Sookie Stackhouse, You Are Mahhhhn!

Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin At The True Blood Premiere

In the latest issue of New York, Emma Rosenblum describes a scene from the new season of “True Blood” (which premieres this Sunday):

“Bill, the brooding village vampire, beds Sookie, his mortal girlfriend, after they’ve had an argument. It’s steamy stuff—makeup sex is still makeup sex, even when one party isn’t technically living. Mid-act, Bill bites Sookie’s neck with his fangs in an orgasmic frenzy, then kisses her, smearing her own red blood down her cheeks and onto her lips.”

Set your DVR, ladies.

Remote Control: “Weeds,” “I’m A Celebrity,” “Top Chef Masters,” And “True Blood”

True Blood

Back in the day, summer television was all repeats and the only reason to watch was to finally see that episode of “Melrose Place” your VCR messed up recording. Luckily, the dark ages are over and summer nights are now filled with good shows. Okay, so it may not classify as “good,” but “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here” has your back Mondays through Thursdays. Meanwhile, two of our favorite shows, “Weeds” and “True Blood” are both starting up this week. And you’ll want to catch the premiere of “Top Chef Masters,” which is kind of like regular “Top Chef” mixed with “Iron Chef.” After the jump, your television sked for the week.

The Sexiest Shows On Television

The Sexiest Shows On Television

Soft-core porn used to be reserved for pay-per-view channels like Skin-imax, but now it’s all over the boob tube!  And it’s not Lifetime movie-esque storylines with wives in floral print dresses waiting for their husbands to feel them up so, so gently you can hardly tell what they’re doing is a sex act. Lucky for me and all you pervs out there, TV has gotten so meaty. Yeah, baby, we like it raw! Here are the top shows to watch, if you want to see some gratuitous soft-core sex scenes…

The Last 31 Days of 2008: Read A Book Series

Read A Book Series Before The End Of 2008

The entire Frisky office is presently working on the “Twilight” series because we’re trying to escape the holidays (if only for a few hours a week) and we love sexy, beautiful men, even if they’re imaginary. I’m also planning on reading the Sookie Stackhouse books now that the first season of “True Blood” is done. I didn’t want to spoil the TV series for myself, so now that I know the plot of the first book, “Dead Until Dawn,” I can’t wait to actually read it and the rest of the series in preparation for season two. If you’re not interested in these vampire series, then now is the perfect time to reread the Shopaholic series because the movie “Confessions of a Shopaholic” premieres early next year. Other great series’ to consider? All of Augusten Burrough’s memoirs, the “Dexter” book series (on which the TV series is based), and, yeah, Harry Potter.

See all the ways to make the most of the last 31 days of 2008 here.

The Top 10 Male Nude Scenes of 2008

Naked guy

Nudity expert Mr. Skin complied a list of celebrity ladies who took it all off in the name of their art this past year. From Angelina Jolie to Mena Suvari, there were some choice bare babes, but 2008 didn’t slight the men either. There was a whole lot of manhood captured for movies and even network television. Thanks to these hotties, 2008 will be remembered as the year of nude dudes! In honor of these studs, we’ve put together a list of guys who flash more than their smiles at the cameras. Here’s looking at you, boys!

Liveblogging The Season Finale Of “True Blood”

True Blood Liveblog

Oh lordy you guys. Is it Sunday? Yes! That means we have only 30 minutes before the season finale of “True Blood” airs. I’m super excited to find out if the killer is really Rene, if Sookie truly chooses Sam over Bill, and who in the hell that naked lady in the middle of the road was. Also, just to warn you, but I pulled an all nighter in Atlantic City this weekend and just finished watching “The Notebook” a few minutes ago, so my mind is a little loopy and my emotions are kind of raw—this could be the weirdest liveblog ever.
