Labor Day weekend is a week away and friends are already stressing over what to pack. Which is silly. Packing for a long weekend should be easy as hell and take no more than 20 minutes. We’ve got some tips to do it quickly and right after the jump.

Last weekend, while some of my friends were off on weekend trips to grand places like the Poconos and St. Louis, I was in the place you can generally find me: home. But, thanks to a little planning, I felt like I had traveled hundreds of miles away from my apartment and had a relaxing, indulgent two days.

First, France bans topless sunbathing. Now this! OK, maaaaaaybe this is a publicity stunt, but Alton Towers, a UK resort with a bitchin’ water park, has banned guys from wearing Speedos and other tight swimming trunks. According to Yahoo, Speedos are now verboten in order to maintain a “family friendly” atmosphere and to “prevent further embarrassment among members of the public.” It’s unclear whether it’s the dignity of the Speedo-wearers or the gentle eyes of Speedo-oglers that the resort endeavors to protect. Alton Towers bosses recommended their male guests wear board shorts instead, and said skimpy skivvies are “more suited to Spain than Staffordshire,” which sounds like a ringing endorsement of Spain to me. In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s summer. And there’s no time better to load up the car with beef jerky and Red Bull, and take on the American highway system with your best friend. That’s right. It’s ROAD TRIP TIME! But we here at The Frisky didn’t want you to take any old road trip. I sort of have a packing problem. In theory you don’t need all that much for a weekend away, it’s only two or three days after all. I always start out very organized and plan my outfits to save space by avoiding redundancy. This forces me to think of what I will need, and that’s where I go wrong. How can I possibly pack for all the potential occasions, weather, activities, meals? There so many possibilities I just can’t plan for. I don’t know where to begin, or more appropriately, I just don’t know where to stop.
