I Wanna Dress Like: Fran Fine From “The Nanny”

Avon sells tons of beauty and skin products, but did you know you can actually add to your wardrobe by leafing through a brochure or surfing the website? We especially love Avon and mark’s jewelry. Check out our picks for sweet accessories, footwear, dresses, and a bonus makeup item from Avon after the jump.
We’re shedding our winter clothes (and showing some skin) now that the temperature is heating up. But since we live in an area that is chilly for more than half of the year, we have to relearn how to dress and groom for warm weather every year. Here are the rules to avoid fashion faux pas, embarrassment, and offending others after the jump.
If these Nike gladiator sandals were a person, they’d be the middle-school bully who beat up all the wimpy gladiator sandals from last season. They’re the brainchild of Art Center College design student Nancy and were created for Nike’s Remixed and Recut hybrid footwear line for Summer 2009. Hybrid is the perfect word to describe the sandals. They’re perfect for hitting the pavement while shopping or sightseeing, but they could transition to night with the right mini-dress. Sadly, they’re sold out. But if you love them as much as I do, you’ll keep checking Colette in hopes of scoring your pair. [Fashion Indie]
You only need a few of these vibrant T-shirt dresses and your summer wardrobe is set. Even if you only get one, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. You can sex it up with a stylish belt and killer heels. Or go the comfy route with thong sandals and your favorite jewelry. Plus, this dress makes an excellent swimsuit cover-up. The only problem is choosing the color(s) you want. [$27.99, Gap]
Now and Then is one of those classic girls-coming-of-age movies. Most of the action takes place in the 1970s, so actresses Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann, and Ashleigh Aston Moore got to wear some pretty sweet clothes. (I hope I’m not the only one to think cut-off jean shorts, plaid shirts, and the most basic sneakers ever are awesome.) Exchange your usual flip-flops for canvas sneaks, and channel your favorite of the four girls—I’m a Samantha (Gaby Hoffmann).
