Behold the European beer giant’s latest ad that’s been airing all over Holland. You don’t need to speak Dutch to get the gist. The scene takes place at a couple’s new home, where the woman is giving her friends a grand tour. The situation quickly turns into a screaming contest between men and women, beer and shoes, as enormous closets of both are revealed. I don’t doubt that most women wouldn’t be stoked over a huge walk-in—it’s just that I kind of want the room full of beer as well.

What’s this ad really about? You tell me. Copyranter reports this ad campaign was created for the German edition of Men’s Health magazine. Both of the ads feature young women exercising to the point of sweaty, dejected exhaustion. In one ad, the woman leans over the handlebars of her bicycle, out of breath. In the other ad, the woman sits on her stationary bicycle, wiped out. The ad copy reads: “IT’S ALL ABOUT MEN.” Copyranter opines: “While it’s certainly not clear, the message of the campaign appears to be ‘that’s right babes, you keep exercising you little patooties off…for us men.’” It’s hard to argue with that position. One of the female commenters chimes in: “The only reason I exercise is so I can get laid.” I’d say she’s the truthteller. What do you think? Is this misogynist marketing or the face of reality? I think I might be a sexist. But since most of you are vagina-enabled, I’ll let you tell me. Many of you possess testicles, as well, and I’ll invite you to chime in, too. To those who have both: All are welcome here.

I’m not proud of the fact that I might be sexist, but it seems more honest to say so than declaring that I’m a feminist. Which I’m not. I’m having a tough enough time trying to figure out how to be a righteous dude. I suppose the best contribution I can make to the struggle for gender equality is to try and be a better man. I can’t allow myself to politicize my inner-struggles, to become, as Gandhi said, the change I want to see in the world. So, yeah, I’m not a feminist, and I might be a sexist. But better I be aware of that, than ignorant to the prejudices that make me oh-so human. And that’s the best I can do.

We’re pretty used to men’s magazines and media outlets celebrating the world’s most beautiful women—from Maxim‘s Hot 100 to AskMen.com’s upcoming Top 99 Most Desirable Women—but Spike.com has decided to go with a much more negative approach. In “The Top 7 Butterbodies,” everyone from Mandy Moore to America Ferrera to Salma FREAKING Hayek is called out for having “a beautiful face but a body that’s gone to butter.” I’m so effing serious. According to Details, decades of feminism and political correctness have turned 21st century guys into total pigs. Because they’ve been forced to play Mr. Nice Guy and suppress their baser, manlier instincts for years, today’s men are starting to revert back to some of their less politically correct, more misogynist ways. Take, for example, “Dave”: “Dave, who was in college during the P.C. era of the early nineties, is part of a generation of men who have started to wonder why they’ve been so damn well-behaved all these years—and are now letting their long-repressed roguish instincts run free.” When Dave’s not busy being married and “co-parenting” his kids, he’s sneaking off to massage parlors for “happy endings.” What it means to be a man is no longer clear, and that’s causing a return to traditionalism. (Think Don Draper incarnate.) Tired of “Yes, Dear”-ing their wives, these guys are saying to hell with all that. (Take, for example, Guy Ritchie.) So what do you think? If I had a dollar for every time somebody used the words “sexism” or “sexist” during this election, I’d have enough money to go shopping. Not shopping at Neiman Marcus, mind you, but shopping at, say, French Connection. When it was revealed the McCain campaign had given Governor Sarah Palin a $150,000 clothing allowance so she could be made over to appear more vice presidential, everybody flipped out. Conservatives were mad because it stood in direct contrast to her small town, we’re-just-like-you” schtick—last time I checked, most small towns don’t have a Saks Fifth Avenue.

This weekend, Sarah Palin finally made her much anticipated appearance on “Saturday Night Live”, showing up in two skits written just for her. To tell you the truth, it seemed like the show was actually laughing at Palin rather than with her—the second skit, featuring Amy Poehler rapping, was seriously pretty…insulting. Additionally, the “highlight” of the first sketch was when Alec Baldwin told Palin that she was “hotter in person.” Considering her campaign thought Tina Fey’s portrayal was sexist, it was very interesting that she participated in a comedy routine which only focused on her physical appearance. Personally, this just supports my theory that the most sexist treatment of Palin comes from Palin herself.

There’s been ado about the complete and utter MILF-ish/VPILF-ish-ness of Sarah Palin. Yesterday, I was sitting and eating lunch next to a table of men, all in their 40’s, who were discussing Palin’s hotness, how she would be sexier with her hair down, and that her critics just think she’s “too pretty”. All that got me thinking about how guys feel about Palin—not just her positions on the issues, but her readiness for the job AND whether looks are playing as much of a factor in the enthusiasm for her as the market for VPILF T-shirts would lead us to believe. So I asked the guys on my IM what they think of the Vice-Presidential nominee. In defense of the seemingly liberal slant of this particular post, I really did try and discuss the topic with the lone conservative guy on my IM (aka The Prepster), but I kept getting his Away message.

Growing up, my mom and dad shared the responsibility of bringing home the bacon…well, the proverbial bacon—we’re Jewish. Anyway, my mom was a realtor and good at her job, but I’ll never forget her main competitor. His wife didn’t work and he was a jerk, the kind of guy who used too much hair grease and put his cheesy head shot up at bus stops. While my mother kept me in enriching after school programs, this other slick Realtor dude would scam his clients for sympathy by dragging his son around to meetings. One particular prospective female client even told my mother she was going to go with this guy because he was really his family’s breadwinner. Puke—that’s some serious girl-on-girl crime! I was always proud of my mama for Mary Tyler Moore-ing it up in the face of sexist foolishness, but apparently this chauvinist realtor isn’t the only man who has cashed in on close-mindedness.

We all know sexism is alive and well in America.  Hollywood’s seemingly endless celebration of the chubby, schlubby, slacker dude is sexist as hell, given that chubby, schlubby, slacker girls get nowhere in Tinseltown, least of all the big screen. And yes, much of the media’s coverage of Hillary Clinton’s campaign was sexist too—and I wasn’t even a Hillary supporter, so this isn’t just a P.U.M.A.’s bitterness talking.

The latest accusation of sexism in the media comes from Governor Sarah Palin, the Vice Presidential nominee for the McCain campaign. Her supporters, her spokespeople, and conservative commentators like Bill O’Reilly assert that she is the target of sexist smear campaign. This is surprising for two reasons: 1) O’Reilly has consistently pooh-poohed claims of sexism in the past and 2) wasn’t it only a few months ago that Palin said Clinton should “stop whining” about sexism herself?

The same week John Edwards admitted to cheating on his wife with Rielle Hunter, Mad Men‘s Don Draper lost his (short) battle NOT to cheat on his wife. The comparisons are easy, if shallow—both dashing, charming, well-manicured, with wives that ooze kindness, morality, loyalty, and selfless struggle. While John Edwards does not have the luxury of his affair being fictional, Don Draper, nevertheless, remains at the top of our “Most Boinkable on TV” list. But how is it that we still have such a girl-boner for a character who not only cheats on wife, but also just had one of the more sinister moments we’ve seen on TV?

“Men at Work” signs are even more outdated then Men At Work’s (the band) hits. Okay, we still get down to their 80’s party tunes, but the biased signs are finally out in Atlanta! It’s all thanks to Cynthia Good, one of the founding editors of PINK and Atlanta Woman magazines. Angered that women working alongside men were being ignored by the sexist signage, Good decided to take matters into her own hands.  After politely sending letters to the Mayor Shirley Franklin and Governor Sonny Perdue, she got nowhere.  Then, not so politely, she was accused of spray painting a “wo” before one of the the signs, but luckily the police stood by her. Despite the hot water, last week, she decided to turn up the heat on her public campaign. She huffed and puffed at the Public Works Commissioner, Joe Basista, and she blew those signs clear outta town. Now, new ones, which will read “Workers Ahead”, have been ordered.  The estimated $166 cost to replace the signs is money well spent! [Atlanta Journal-Constitution via Fark]

Now that the Presidential primary race is over and the general election is underway, members of the media are looking back on their coverage of Hillary Clinton and trying to decide if they were sexist or not. Clark Hoyt, a writer for The New York Times takes his own employer to task and places a large amount of blame on Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the paper. Dowd was also named on the National Organization for Women’s Hall Of Shame list for her coverage of Clinton, which Hoyt describing as “loaded with language painting [Clinton] as a 50-foot woman with a suffocating embrace, a conniving film noir dame and a victim dependent on her husband.”

I am amazed by the rise of the slogan t-shirt. You know, “Everybody Loves An Italian Girl”, “Barack ‘N’ Roll”, “More Cowbell”, “What Would Jesus Do”...I blame Urban Outfitters. But anyway, the most annoying aspect of this clothing phenomenon is that it’s given people the false impression that it’s okay to wear their stupidity, sexist attitudes, and sexual habits on their chests. Grand Theft Auto IV came out on Tuesday and made bajillions of dollars in sales. However, some people are up in arms because the video game allows you to have sex with prostitutes and then kill them afterwards.
