Star Couplings: Lindsay Lohan Raves About Samantha Ronson
Born: August 7, 1977, London, England
Best Known As: Celebrity DJ, Former Girlfriend of Lindsay Lohan, Sister to fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and producer Mark Ronson
Samantha Ronson shot into the spotlight in 2008 thanks to her much publicized relationship with actress Lindsay Lohan. Born in England, but now living in Los Angeles, she spends her time DJing for big star-studded parties and at the hippest Hollywood clubs. Ronson has a pretty famous family as well—her brother Mark Ronson is a DJ and a music producer, and her twin sister Charlotte Ronson is the fashion designer behind the line C. Ronson. Samantha Ronson and her girlfriend Linday Lohan have been close friends for years, but became romantically involved in late-2007/early-2008.
Lesbianism is such a hot topic, some celebs even seem to be capitalizing on the media coming out party. While faux-mo’s make us want to barf, in general, the mainstreaming of what was once considered counterculture is exciting. Now heteros can finally play Indigo Girls’ records in public without being judged! But who are the trailblazing scissor sisters bridging their community? Since everyone’s personalities are a mixture of nurture and nature, here are the basic types of lesbians from which you can make-up the Venn diagram of lesbian society.
The Sophisticate Usually an artist or academic, this well read member of the intelligentsia is socially conscious without smelling like patchouli. An important public person, she’s a wise, loving role model. Example: Melissa Etheridge
The hit song of the summer, I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry, is the soundtrack for a new sexual revolution. From co-ed LUG’s to Hollywood’s hottest stars, girl-on-girl action is steaming up the streets and screens across the U.S. What publicly started with Madonna kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the Video Music Awards in 2003, has grown into a full-on, leggings-style TREND.
Some people start dating because they are so very similar. They have the same interests, background, education, taste in dogs, and favorite dessert. Then there are couples who end up becoming more and more like their significant other as the relationship progresses, and not just in interests, but in looks. Here are eight current and former couples who began looking and dressing alike after they started going out.

Lovebirds Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson got matching tattoos when they were in Miami last week. Lindsay already had a white heart on her hand between her thumb and index finger, but she had it outlined in black. Samantha had the same black heart done on her hand. Lindsay also got a red star tattooed on her right hand to match the red stars Sam has on her right arm. While tattoos in honor of a lover often lead to regret, the two aren’t in bad company since many of our favorite equally inked couples are still together, though some are not…
In the famous Ronson family, Mark’s got the music, Sam’s got the nightlife, and Charlotte, well, she got the style. From head to high-heeled wedges, her simple and sophisticated glamor make femininity seem as easy as sliding into a onesie. You know a girl’s got talent when she can turn booty shorts into a chic ensemble! And she’s done just that with the blue and white striped romper from her Summer ‘08 Collection. It’s the perfect cotton outdoor activity outfit with those little something extras—the back tie, ballet rouched halter neckline, and button pocket details. Just like her siblings, Charlotte doesn’t miss a beat. She makes us wanna romp up the volume! [$106.40, ShopBop.com]
For those of you who don’t hang from every typed word of the gossip magazine and blogs, here is a little tutorial on Lindsay Lohan’s best friend/rumored girlfriend, Sam Ronson.
Who needs gold, platinum and silver, when you can have blood, tats and locks? Today’s celebs are anything but traditional when it comes to expressing their love and “commitment” to each other. Rings are just too boooring for these celebs.
Most recently, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson have been spotted around town sporting matching red infinity lock bracelets by Jules Smith to show off their alleged lesbian love. They also apparently wear matching anchor necklaces as a sign of “stability,” oh and Sam recently gave Lindsay a $22,000 Cartier ring. They are really selling this “we’re together forever thing.” My bet’s another week. Anyway, here are some other famous couples that have chosen unique ways of staking claim on their partners, after the jump…
Lindsay Lohan is the kind of girl who creates trends just by existing. Take, for instance, 6126, the line of leggings she co-designed. Despite the fact that leggings are so last year, the girl’s line sold out at LA store Intuition just a week after debuting. It wouldn’t surprise us if “holding pinkies” becomes the new version holding hands as a result of Lindsay and girl “friend” Samantha Ronson sneaking pinky-finger grabs all night at Sephora’s 10th anniversary party last Thursday in New York. Not only is this finger-holding technique discreet, but it’s also perfect during the summer when skin-on-skin contact causes excessively sweaty hands. [NY Daily News]
