Is Rihanna going to single-handedly bring back fake, acrylic, prom-style nails? Take a look at her fingers, specifically her freakishly-long nails. Not only do they have some major length, but check out the shape. Most people rock the square with rounded edges look. Not RiRi. Her nails are almost filed into a point. Very Elvira. And this isn’t the first super-long sighting. Back in March, she went long with green polish! I find it hard enough keeping my shorter-than-my-fingertips nails clean. Imagine the crap that accumulates on the underside of her claws. Grody. Do you miss long nails, or would you rather see them stay in the past where (as anyone who types on a computer most of the day knows) they kind of belong?
Can we raise our hands for too much? We’re all about taking fashion risks here at The Frisky, but like the legendary soap opera, they must be bold and beautiful. What Rihanna is giving us here feels a touch sloppy. She rocked London at the “Inglourious Basterds” premiere with what was otherwise a pretty tasteful and well-put-together outfit (Alexander McQueenthankyouverymuch), but we’re not sure if the pearls take the whole moment overboard. Are you loving the multi-layered look or was this just over the top for you? [Just Jared]
Born: February 20, 1988, Saint Michael, Barbados Best Known As:
Singer and Pop Music Princess
Chris Brown’s former girlfriend
Style icon
Rihanna, who was born and raised in Barbados, came onto the music scene in 2005 with her hit “Pon De Replay.” She’s released other songs such as “SOS” and “Unfaithful,” but Rihanna’s popularity took off with the release of her third and most successful album. Good Girl Gone Bad produced eight hits including “Umbrella,” “Please Don’t Stop The Music,” and “Take a Bow.” She also created a line of umbrellas after the popularity of her hit song. She has plans to work on a fourth album this year. Her musical influences include Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Beyonce. Rihanna is the cultural ambassador to her country. In 2006, Rihanna created a charity organization, Believe, which is dedicated to providing medical services, school supposed and toys to children in need. She’s also signed on to endorse a variety of companies including Venus Gillette, Secret and Cover Girl.
Chris Brown said in his apology video that he hopes one day he'll be worthy of the term "role model." But that's a tall order for a guy who beat the crap out of his girlfriend.
Unlike the other YouTube video he put out in May, where he plugs his new album and tells his fans, “I ain’t a monster,” this video is a clearly scripted and exactly two minutes long. He looks remorseful. He pleads for sympathy. He apologizes to Rihanna, his fans, and everyone else he disappointed when he assaulted her earlier this year. He even says he hopes to be worthy of the phrase “role model” some day. It’s the PR-iest of PR scripts a PR person could dream up.
Maybe you ain’t a monster, Chris, but you could have done a lot better.
Chris Brown—you know, the guy who got his wrist slapped for beating the crap out of Rihanna earlier this year — just released a video on his You Tube page where he apologizes for “the incident,” as he calls it.
He makes lots of references to his mom and his spiritual teachers and how he grew up in a home with domestic violence. Sorry, but it’s still too little, too late, for me. What about you?

I knew it had been way too long since she last changed it up. Check Rihanna out, or should I say, check it out—the new mop-top, completely shaved sides, mohawk-esque ‘do. If you ask me, there’s only one person right now who pulls off the whole shaved half-head trend and it’s this lady, above. It just works—the avant-garde fashion, the shades, the what-the-eff-you-looking-at-beyotch look. Love everything. Especially, when we are all inundated with perfectly turned out stars with their perfect-mussed-up beach curls and perfect Rachel Zoe-styled red carpet clothes. She’s real. (And, speaking of, how great would the hair look paired with some super frothy, ethereal dress—a very yin and yang juxtaposition.) What say you?
On the Fourth of July Rihanna decided to let her boobies out for all the world to see. In honor of her independence Independence Day, the singer slapped a sequined, silver star over each of her nipples and unbottoned her black blazer.
I myself would never wear pasties. That is, unless I take a job humping a pole and letting guys put money in my g-string. So, yeah, never. But there are a lot of stars who like to rock out with their .. boobs out? See more, after the jump.
Rihanna could be fined for illegally inking three tattoo artists. [Starpulse]
Michael Jackson was reportedly working on two albums at the time of his death. [Entertainment Weekly]—If Tupac can release albums after his death, so can Michael.
Amber Rose is rocking a turquoise hair now. [Dlisted]—We wouldn’t pull this off, but it looks superb on her.
Rihanna supposedly wants Chris Brown’s restraining order lifted so the two can “work on their friendship.” [Your Tango]—Rihanna’s dad doesn’t approve, and neither do we. [I’m not surprised at all by this.—Annika]
Em & Lo want to know—do you have good playdar? [Em & Lo]
North Carolina schools are now paying teenage girls, to not get pregnant. The going rate is $365 a year, or $1 a day.[Lemon Drop]—Not sure if this is the best route to pregnancy-free teens, as I’d take sex over a dollar any day.
So is it good timing or good publicity? Just days after Chris Brown plead guilty to assaulting Rihanna, Cover Girl decided to rerun television and print ads featuring the Barbados Beauty. They pulled the ads in February after photos of Rihanna’s bruised face and blackened eye surfaced online. The ads feature a smiling Rihanna in a gold dress and fishnets asking viewers to “turn up the light in your eyes.” [Daily Mail U.K.]
Yeah, we know Rihanna’s outfit wasn’t the most important detail of her face-to-face with ex Chris Brown in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday. But since we already told you Chris took a plea deal, we felt no reason to ignore Rihanna’s stylish outfit, which included about $21,500-worth of vintage jewels. We thought her outfit looked a little old on her—even a fierce side-swept bang over her eye couldn’t up the edge factor—so we found three slightly more youthful black dresses for you, after the jump.
On Monday, before his preliminary hearing even started, Chris Brown plead guilty to one count of felony assault. He won’t be sentenced until August 5, but according to the plea deal it looks like he’s going to be on probation for 5 years and will have to do 6 months of community service. Meaning, he’ll be scrubbing graffitti or picking up garbage on the side of the road for approximately 1,400 hours. The judge told Rihanna and Chris to stay at least 50 yards away from each other unless they are at an event, in which case their separation distance must be 10 yards. This goes both ways, so if Rihanna gets too close to Chris, she could get in trouble. But she already knows that getting close to Chris is a dangerous proposition.
The preliminary hearing for the Chris Brown and Rihanna drama will take place today in a Los Angeles courtroom, to determine whether there’s enough evidence for the case to go to trial. Contrary to what all you “Law & Order” fans think, there are not usually any big, jaw-dropping surprises in court. Everyone involved usually has a pretty good idea of what’s going to happen. So, to save you from all the suspense, here’s what to expect.
Leighton Meester’s rumored sex tape went online today and apparently involves a foot-job, maybe? The video was being shopped around, but ended up in the hands of Celeb Hotline, who were sure to market it as creepily as possible by mentioning her “perky pink nipples.” [CelebHotline]
Poor Leighton, it happened so fast and looks legit! Most sex tapes start as rumors and take days, if not forevers, to actually surface. Since there are so many whispers about sex tapes circulating these days, here’s a breakdown of which we think are real and which are totally made up.
Danielle Staub from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” reportedly has a sex tape with Steve Zalewski, the balding twentysomething who looks fortysomething. [Dlisted]—That means season two should be just as entertaining as season one.
Robert Pattinson has reportedly been spending time with two women while filming in New York City. [Perez Hilton]—And he said he had a hard time getting laid?
Billy Joel and his third wife Katie Lee have split. [E! Online]—Expect Gwyneth Paltrow to refer to William’s love life in the next issue of Goop.
Call it wishful thinking, but rumors that Rihanna made a sex tape have been circulating for months. And this morning, some people are claiming this one is actually legit. We aren’t sure because the dirty vid is only 13 seconds long and the lighting is kind of wack. Maybe the orgasming girl is just a Rihanna look-a-like, like the chick Chris Brown brought to the NBA finals on Sunday? The mysterious site that released the video claims the rest of it will be out soon. The snippet after the jump isn’t too graphic, so watch and chime in on whether you think it’s real or really fake. [News.com.au]
Do you swear to tell the truth, avoid neon colors, and not wear sunglasses as headbands, so help you God? In a courthouse, there is a legal oath as well as a fashion oath. Few people would repeat [Michael Jackson’s pajama-clad court appearance faux pas, but many overlook the less obvious style no-no’s in a courtroom. Whether you’re in the jury box, testifying, or, heaven forbid, the defendant, there are certain rules everyone should follow in front of the (fashion) judge.
We were really smitten with Rihanna’s sweater-as-dress look the other day. While we realize that you have to be super confident to pull this off, and it doesn’t hurt to be a short, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to create our own looks. It is summer, but these outfits would be great for that random cool summer day or on a chilly night.
