Star Couplings: LeAnn Rimes Possibly An Adulterer
Rihanna may think that she’s back to making sweet music together with her battering boyfriend, but she is sadly mistaken if she thinks he will never hit her again. Men who batter rarely do it once, even if they are rich and famous. So if you’re in a relationship with a guy who has pushed, hit or slapped you once, take it as a warning sign. You can expect him to do it again and again.
Chris Brown and Rihanna are supposedly in a Santa Monica studio recording a duet. WTF?! Has Rihanna not seen “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” Well, if Tina Turner, Oprah, Jay-Z, her friends, the media, the public outcry, and rational thought can’t help her see the light, maybe if we try to speak her language- music, she’ll realize he’s got to go. So, we’ve compiled a list of hit songs (no pun intended) to inspire Rihanna that we think she and Chris Brown should cover for their duet.
Like everyone else, I’ve been glued to the Chris Brown/Rihanna debacle, and was saddened when I read reports that she might get back together with someone who left her so bruised and battered.
But here’s the thing: loads of couples break up and then make up and sometimes things work out great. But knowing when, and under what circumstances, to forgive and forget is key, and most of us won’t know until we’re thrust into that situation. Here are six scenarios to consider.
Linda Fairstein, a former chief prosecutor for the New York County D.A.‘s Special Victims Unit, says Rihanna will end up like Nicole Brown if she reconciles with Chris Brown. Both Rihanna and Nicole were or are in the age group of women, 16 to 24, who face the highest rates of intimate partner violence when they began their relationships with violent men. There were many people who witnessed O.J. Simpson’s abuse of Nicole. Similarly, rumors are now surfacing that suggest the February altercation wasn’t the first time Chris allegedly assaulted Rihanna. Both fans of O.J. and Chris had/are having a difficult time believing the truth about these men whose charm has often gotten them ahead. Brown has supposedly made threats against Rihanna’s life like O.J. did to Nicole. And sadly, Rihanna and Nicole didn’t initially press charges against their violent partners.
Nearly a year after news of Eliot Spitzer’s Hookergate scandal, new sordid details have been revealed. The New York Daily News reports that a second call girl, who goes by the name “Annie,” claims that Spitzer choked her as part of role-playing foreplay. S&M is nothing new, and New York’s erstwhile governor may not be the most shining example of conventional sexual appetites, but this account supports anecdotal evidence of a growing sexual trend. Where once spanking, dirty talk, and hair-pulling pushed the limits of casual sexual encounters, choking, face-slapping and spitting are becoming more and more part and parcel of hooking up. What happens in the privacy of the bedroom is a matter of taste, I suppose, but in light of the recent, high profile Chris Brown/Rihanna scandal, you kinda can’t help but wonder whether harmless sex games and real-life violence toward women are connected. What’s permissible behind closed doors might well bear itself out in everyday life. Do you think S&M subconsciously normalizes violence towards women?
On Friday’s live episode of “Oprah,” the talk show queen had a message for Rihanna. Check out the clip above…
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has officially charged Chris Brown with felony assault and making criminal threats for allegedly assaulting Rihanna. According to the search warrant that was leaked today, Chris Brown allegedly tried to push Rihanna out of the car he was driving, slammed her head against the car window, and punched her. He also alledgedy said, “I’m going to beat the ——out of you when we get home.” When Rihanna was able to call and leave a message for her assistant (telling her to call the police), Brown supposedly said, “You just did the stupidest thing ever. I’m going to kill you.” [TMZ]
Yesterday, we told you Rihanna supposedly plans to testify on behalf of Chris Brown, but everyday we learn more and more (rumors) about this surprising incident. I wholeheartedly believe she has gone back to him, and they will embark on a tumultuous and violent on-again-off-again relationship. I predict people will eventually stop caring about this pair, but until then, we’ll continue updating folks.
I’m so over this Chris Brown/Rihanna drama, but the scandal may finally be coming to a rest, but not without more sadness. It was reported that the pop princess was seen all over Miami with Brown, which led to speculation that she forgave him and wanted to work things out. If that act alone wasn’t a big step for Rihanna, now she’s going above and beyond what any alleged abuse victim should be doing. Supposedly, Rihanna has agreed to speak to the prosecutors on Chris’ behalf. She doesn’t want Chris getting in any more trouble than he’s already in, and if need be, will admit to “her part” in the incident. WTF?! An anonymous source says that Chris Brown and the L.A. prosecutors are extremely close to a plea deal. According to that insider, Chris would plead no contest to misdemeanor domestic battery and receive no jail time. Wow. Does Rihanna not remember what her face looked like after Chris (allegedly) hit her? I hope she knows what she’s doing. But at only 21, I doubt it. [Newsguru]
Ever since the news broke that Rihanna had (allegedly) been beaten by her boyfriend Chris Brown, I’ve been saying that there would be no way she would take him back, even if she wanted to. After all, this is a woman in the public eye, who’s extremely popular with young women and girls. She’s also always seemed to be comfortable and okay with being a role model, unlike, say, Britney Spears, who never seemed to like the influence she had, or was expected to have, over her fans. As it became clearer that this incident did in fact happen and wasn’t just a rumor, I was even more convinced that she couldn’t and wouldn’t get back together with Brown—but part of me did wonder how I, and her fans, and just everyone, would respond if she did. So when I read that Rihanna and Brown were holed up at Diddy’s estate in Miami, and were supposedly reconciling, I thought two things:
1. Who does Diddy think he is? Dr. Phil?
2. WTF?!
I didn’t want to believe it at first, but Chris Brown has a problem controlling his temper. Duh, right? But I was actually trying to give him the benefit of the doubt—you know, innocent until proven guilty—until the complete true story was revealed. We’ve heard a lot of ludicrous rumors surrounding the altercation between Brown and Rihanna, but here’s one that is believable: Brown’s newly-hired spin doctor is trying to improve the singer’s image by enrolling him in anger management classes. According to a New York Daily News source, he isn’t required by law to attend the classes, “but he believes it will make him look better to the public, and he wants to try to get in a few classes before March 5.” He is required to appear in court on that date. Do you think anger management is PR-ese for learning how to keep your violent hands to yourself? Do you think taking these classes is an admission of guilt? We’ve also heard rumors about Rihanna’s hot temper, should she take anger management classes, too? [The Envelope]
