Mariah Carey has a new movie out, “Precious,” and what better an occasion for her to speak out (again) about her failed semi-autobiographical movie “Glitter”’? This time she’s blaming (drum roll, please) September 11th! “That movie was released on September 11th, 2001—could there be a worse day for that movie to come out?” she says. This isn’t the first time Mariah blamed terrorists for ruining her party. A couple of years ago she said, “The talk shows needed something to distract from 9/11. I became a punching bag. I was so successful that they tore me down because my album was at number two instead of number one. The media was laughing at me and attacked me…‘Glitter’ was ahead of its time.”
Sooo ahead of its time. Notice how Carey didn’t offer any love to the survivors and families who lost loved ones. How insensitive can you be? Um, it’s been eight years, no one saw your movie, get over it. [Celebitchy]

Mariah Carey always has a lot going on in her fabulous diva life. She’s working on the musical based on her movie “Glitter” coming out. She’s constantly fighting off pregnancy rumors, and now Mimi just got finished working on a new album. I don’t know how she does it all and still keeps that banging bod! Mariah is releasing a new ballads CD, a collection of songs she’s already released—yes, another “Greatest Hits”-esque offering. I’m kind of rolling my eyes too. The CD includes her classic, “Hero,” which Mimi re-recorded and shot a whole new video for. While I usually think everything Mariah does is amazing, this particular video is dreadfully boring. It’s nothing but shots of the city skyline, her dog Jack, and her recording in the studio. Mimi, darling, I know you have enough money to create a bigger and better video. You don’t do anything half-assed, so why start now? Secondly, if you watch the original “Hero” video, shot in 1993 (after the jump) and this “Hero,” 15 years later (see above), Mariah has had so much work done. I’m not sure why—she’s always been gorgeous. Check out the original video after the jump, and the re-done version above.
If you’re not getting enough of Mariah Carey in the tabloids and press these days, just wait a few months. Carey has been in discussions about creating “Glitter” the musical, as we’re calling the Broadway production about her life. A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper that she’s not sure whether she’ll play herself yet, but the likes of Vanessa Hudgens and Eva Longoria-Parker are being considered. Who knew the “Desperate Housewife” could sing? Carey supposedly wants Leona Lewis to play her; she would be better able than most at tackling Carey’s eight-octave vocal range, after all. Plus, we already know she can play crazy from the UK video for “Bleeding Love.” [Daily Mirror UK]
