Celebs Sure Do Love Wearing Tights As Pants

Lady Gaga not wearing pants

We all know the economy isn’t in the best of places, but it seems like things have gotten so bad that even celebrities are having trouble buying clothes, namely pants. Mary-Kate Olsen might have pioneered the leggings-as-pants trend years ago, but nowadays we’re making our way into tights-as-pants territory, which is a lot more questionable. Maybe leggings keep starlets legs too thick in the warm California climate, plus tights are half the price (and provide half the coverage!). It’s not just trashy celebrities forgetting to put their skirts on, either. The normally classy singer Duffy performed on German TV wearing a heels, a blazer, and fishnets (yes, her butt peaked out). We’re hoping this tights-as-pants business will subside soon. However, the new boots-as-pants trend will probably pick up wear the tights left off.

The day Lady Gaga wears pants will be noteworthy.

Crave: Hard Tail Zip Leggings

Hard Tail zipper leggings

True story: We saw an adorable kid wearing these black zipper leggings and we had to know who made them. Her response: “They’re Hard Tail, and they make them in big people size, too.” Yes, we checked, and they do make them in “big people size.” Who knew fifth-graders had such a great sense of style?  [$66, NationalJeanCompany.com]

Cozy Loungewear

When it’s freezing out, all we want to do is get cozy and comfy on the couch and watch a great movie or read a page-turner. We think every woman should have a loungewear “outfit” for these occassions because it doesn’t make sense to get fully dressed, but you can’t laze around in your pajamas from the night before.

Lindsay Lohan Finally Has A Hit

Lindsay Lohan

Her acting career may be in the crapper, but Lindsay Lohan’s fashion line is a hit. She’s kicking ass with her fast-selling debut legwear line, created through her company, 6126 (a name inspired by Lohan’s idol, Marilyn Monroe, whose birthday was June 1, 1926). Despite a price tag that rivals that of some designer jeans, Lohan’s line of leggings is selling like hotcakes in high-end stores like Henri Bendel, Nordstrom, Intermix, and Lisa Kline. “They’re blowing off the shelves,” says Jill Lowe, publicist for upscale Hollywood boutique Intuition. There are 35 styles in various colors and patterns, but the best-seller is the Mr. President, which at $132 is also the most expensive. “The leggings are made of top quality materials,” says 6126 publicist Ali Brubaker. “Many have accents like 100 percent leather patches and 100 percent cashmere leggings which also contribute to the price range.” (We’re betting the high price has more to do with the line’s famous designer than leather accents.) Lucky for Lohan, her fashion foray might turn into an entire brand. “We are building a lifestyle brand that represents timeless glamour,” Brubaker says. “Our hope is to organically [roll] out additional product categories over the next several years.” Lohan may not be able to score plum movie roles (or any movie roles, for that matter), but at least she’s got a future in “timeless glamour.” Who knew? Stunning Hosiery For Fall

Stunning Hosiery For Fall

When I was in high school I butted heads with the evil nuns because I wore patterned tights with my uniform. They said I was a distraction to the other students. After I graduated, they changed the rulebook, making solid color tights the only acceptable hosiery. I still appreciate hosiery that is different, even though I’m older. This season patterned, woven and even sparkly hosiery and footless tights are in style. And now that it’s getting chilly outside, you can wear these stunners with all your dresses, even some of your summer dresses. One of my favorite looks for this time of year is an over-sized Oxford shirt (one that hits mid-thigh) worn with footless tights and heels. I’m absolutely dying for the Falke leggings and the HUE floral leggings below. Tell us in the comments which stunning hosiery you would wear and how you would wear them.

Love It Or Leave It: Faux Leather Leggings

Pleather leggings

Leggings are great for working out, lounging around, throwing on, or for pairing with an outfit that was a once cute dress but is now too short.  The greatness of leggings, is not what I’m debating here.  It’s what’s spawning from these tight favorites that has me worried.  Mainly, what are these faux leather, almost plastic looking leggings that are popping up everywhere?  I can’t decide if I love them or hate them.  They’re definitely funky and a good trend for those completely bored of jeans (ahem, moi). American Apparel has gone so far as to make high-waisted and faux denim leggings.  So time to weigh in ladies.  Will you be shimmying into these tight creations? Love it or leave it?

Lindsay Lohan Holds Pinkies, Not Hands

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is the kind of girl who creates trends just by existing. Take, for instance, 6126, the line of leggings she co-designed. Despite the fact that leggings are so last year, the girl’s line sold out at LA store Intuition just a week after debuting. It wouldn’t surprise us if “holding pinkies” becomes the new version holding hands as a result of Lindsay and girl “friend” Samantha Ronson sneaking pinky-finger grabs all night at Sephora’s 10th anniversary party last Thursday in New York. Not only is this finger-holding technique discreet, but it’s also perfect during the summer when skin-on-skin contact causes excessively sweaty hands. [NY Daily News]

Look Like Lindsay Lohan!

Lindsay Lohan's leggings line

Lindsey Lohan has just launched her line of leggings and they are H-O-T!  Over the weekend, she strutted her stuff down Robertson Boulevard in LA flanked by two free models she’s paying in “trade.”  So, her collection should be cheap, right? It features a black pair with a gold zipper, a metallic black stirrup, and for the LoHo on the go, a pair with quilted patent kneepads.  Finally, she and her customers can comfortably give a club bathroom beej without getting their pants wet!  [Hollywood Crap]

Posh Spice Says Hello To Camel Toe

We’re so glad leggings are in style! They put on a leg show and cover cellulite. But now that they’ve made a comeback, so has the dreaded camel toe. Honestly, people, come on! When you’re wearing spandex bottoms, you have to add a long top or a short dress that will hide your stuff, so even the FBI would have do get permission to do an investigation. But apparently, Victoria Beckham isn’t aware of the laws of her land or Fannypack’s instructional dance hit from a few years ago.  She was just spotted sporting a frontal split in leather leggings, flying in the face of fashion, and decency, by pairing them with a cropped jacket. Why Posh, why?!  Although Vicky Becky is the new Marc Jacobs icon, she must have missed the company memo. At the fashion house’s Arabian Nights themed Christmas party, Marc Jacobs himself wore an anti-camel toe costume.
